  1. Thanks anyhow! In the meantime I found "combofix". It was the only thing I could get to run on the system. Malwarebytes wouldn't execute. Now that combofix has run, my internet is working and I was able to run Malwarebytes. I think I'm OK now.
  2. HELP!!! My computer is infected with some kind of malware. It won't let me access most sites and if I click a link from google, it opens another browser window taking me to various unrelated sites (mywebsearch.com, findstuff.com, stopzilla and various other spyware program sites). I had to download Malwarebytes to a different computer, copy to the infected computer, and rename it in order to install it. After installation, it put a shortcut on my desktop, but when I click it, I get the hourglass and arrow for a few seconds and nothing happens. I tried rebooting, uninstalling, reinstalling, but the same thing happens (nothing). I tried using the "run" from the start menu to do a quickscan per the users guide, but still nothing. I can't load any other spyware programs either such as spybot, adaware, etc. My HJT log is: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 1:42:21 PM, on 1/14/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16762) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\brss01a.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\AOLacsd.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcmscsvc.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mna\mcnasvc.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mcproxy\mcproxy.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcshield.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfService.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBCFMonitorService.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\Core\smax4pnp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe C:\Program Files\Dell\Media Experience\DMXLauncher.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\DLA\DLACTRLW.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfTray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\m3SrchMn.exe C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\m3SkPlay.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\DellSupport\DSAgnt.exe C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe C:\ProWin08\32bit\TaskSch.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfAgent.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcsysmon.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee\msc\mcuimgr.exe C:\1099etc.w08\MENU1099.EXE C:\1099etc.w08\SVIEW32.EXE C:\HJTInstall.exe C:\HiJackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://*.mcafee.com O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfarm.com/images/nocache/f...etup1.0.1.1.cab O16 - DPF: {4ED9DDF0-7479-4BBE-9335-5A1EDB1D8A21} (McAfee.com Operating System Class) - http://download.mcafee.com/molbin/shared/m...01/mcinsctl.cab O16 - DPF: {6E32070A-766D-4EE6-879C-DC1FA91D2FC3} (MUWebControl Class) - http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdat...b?1224868701109 O16 - DPF: {BCC0FF27-31D9-4614-A68E-C18E1ADA4389} (DwnldGroupMgr Class) - http://download.mcafee.com/molbin/shared/m...,26/mcgdmgr.cab O18 - Protocol: intu-help-qb2 - {84D77A00-41B5-4B8B-8ADF-86486D72E749} - C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2009\HelpAsyncPluggableProtocol.dll O18 - Protocol: qbwc - {FC598A64-626C-4447-85B8-53150405FD57} - mscoree.dll (file missing) O23 - Service: AOL Connectivity Service (AOL ACS) - America Online, Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\AOLacsd.exe O23 - Service: BrSplService (Brother XP spl Service) - brother Industries Ltd - C:\WINDOWS\system32\brsvc01a.exe O23 - Service: DSBrokerService - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\DellSupport\brkrsvc.exe O23 - Service: Google Updater Service (gusvc) - Google - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe O23 - Service: Intuit Fuse Service - Intuit - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Fuse\Service\Intuit Fuse Service.exe O23 - Service: McAfee Services (mcmscsvc) - McAfee, Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcmscsvc.exe O23 - Service: McAfee Network Agent (McNASvc) - McAfee, Inc. - c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mna\mcnasvc.exe O23 - Service: McAfee Scanner (McODS) - McAfee, Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcods.exe O23 - Service: McAfee Proxy Service (McProxy) - McAfee, Inc. - c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mcproxy\mcproxy.exe O23 - Service: McAfee Real-time Scanner (McShield) - McAfee, Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcshield.exe O23 - Service: McAfee SystemGuards (McSysmon) - McAfee, Inc. - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcsysmon.exe O23 - Service: McAfee Personal Firewall Service (MpfService) - McAfee Corporation - C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\PERSON~1\MpfService.exe O23 - Service: My Web Search Service (MyWebSearchService) - MyWebSearch.com - C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwssvc.exe O23 - Service: Intel NCS NetService (NetSvc) - Intel® Corporation - C:\Program Files\Intel\PROSetWired\NCS\Sync\NetSvc.exe O23 - Service: QBCFMonitorService - Intuit - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBCFMonitorService.exe O23 - Service: Intuit QuickBooks FCS (QBFCService) - Intuit Inc. - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\FCS\Intuit.QuickBooks.FCS.exe -- End of file - 10096 bytes
