  1. OK. I think I'll wait until you've sorted the ZA issue. If it's going to be a while, I'll get another firewall. Regards, Jim.
  2. Not running the new version until the end sort of works... I disabled Avast and ZoneAlarm and reinstalled MWB. It worked fine until ZoneAlarm was reactivated, then the machine became unstable. So the problem is that MWB is incompatible with ZoneAlarm or the version of ZA I have: ZoneAlarm Free Firewall version: 10.1.065.000 vsmon version: 10.1.065.000 Driver version: 10.1.065.000 ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.350.0 ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.350.0 ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0 ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155 Shall I look for another firewall or what ? Regards, Jim.
  3. Your instructions do not make sense. "2. Reinstall MWB" "Download and save it" "Now, run the MBAM setup program." I took 'reinstall' to mean just that and I downloaded and ran the update. The issues remain: I can do nothing on the computer until the clean programme is run in safe mode. Do you mean only to run the new version after the point where the AV is disabled ? Regards, Jim.
  4. I installed the update offered automatically (presumably v1.6). On restarting, although I got to the desktop, I could do nothing there, not even Ctl-Alt-Del. I had to start in safe mode and uninstall MWB. Now, even without MWB, I get two 'error' beeps when the desktop loads without an accompanying window to say what they're about. So what now ?? [Windows XP Home SP-3, MWP Pro] -- Jim.
  5. >Ok well i have nothing to go on at this point. let me know if it hits again. Might of been related to the false positive from yesterday. > >You can also attach the file and i can check that way. > >Rich Matteo >Research Engineer No, nothing to go on - I've deleted the file! Regards Jim.
  6. Done so. Turns up nothing. The Snapdb an Epson items didn't come up in a scan but from pop-up notices. I can't find anything about Snapdb in the logs, they're all about Epson. ---- Log: ---- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.51.2.1300 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 8272 Windows 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 29/11/11 22:10:28 mbam-log-2011-11-29 (22-10-28).txt Scan type: Full scan (C:\|D:\|Y:\|) Objects scanned: 287946 Time elapsed: 21 minute(s), 56 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) ---------------- Regards, Jim.
  7. This came up again. Snapdb_ansi.exe is flagged as a trojan (but not Autohotkey). I have this programme running on XP Home SP-3 and on Windows 7 Pro Sp-1 64-bit. It's clean on the XP machine and a trojan on the Windows 7 machine according to MWB. (There were also a half-dozen Epson utilities flagged, but according to the forums they're FPs, so I've released them).
  8. Many thanks for that. All worked perfectly. Regards, Jim.
  9. What do I do about my MWB licence when I re-install the operating system ? Will it do simply to keep a copy of the MWB directory and put it back after the re-install ? -- Cheemag
  10. OK. Thank you. I notice others post regarding the same problem, and the replies to them are helpful. Thanks again.
  11. OK. Now how do I connect to a site I wish to visit notwithstanding MWB's block? Regards, Jim.
  12. Since installing the paid version of MWB I have been getting the 'Outgoing malicious site blocking' popup for sites which clearly are in no way malicious. What is going on? And what is meant by 'outgoing' in this respect? Regards, Jim.
