  1. Last week Avira found a trojan in BitDefender's kit. (the file was downloaded from bitdefender.com) No comment.
  2. Yap. Delete that folder and the archive. Go to to Start > Run Type in box Note: the space between the X and the /u Press Enter. This command will: * Delete the following: ComboFix and its associated files and folders. VundoFix backups, if present The C:\Deckard folder, if present The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present * Reset the clock settings. * Hide file extensions, if required. * Hide System/Hidden files, if required. * Reset System Restore.

This will remove Combofix from your computer. Delete RootRepeal, GMER (this is a random named file) and OTL. Please read these advices, in order to prevent reinfecting your PC: Install and update the following programs regularly:an outbound firewall A comprehensive tutorial and a list of possible firewalls can be found here. an AntiVirus Software It is imperative that you update your AntiVirus Software on regular basis.If you do not update your AntiVirus Software then it will not be able to catch the latest threats. an Anti-Spyware program Malware Byte's Anti Malware is an excellent Anti-Spyware scanner. It's scan times are usually under ten minutes, and has excellent detection and removal rates. SUPERAntiSpyware is another good scanner with high detection and removal rates. Both programs are free for non commercial home use but provide a resident and do not nag if you purchase the paid versions. Spyware Blaster A tutorial for Spywareblaster can be found here. If you wish, the commercial version provides automatic updating. MVPs hosts file A tutorial for MVPs hosts file can be found here. If you would like automatic updates you might want to take a look at HostMan host file manager. I cannot stress how important this is enough. Often holes are found in Internet Explorer or Windows itself that require patching. Sometimes these holes will allow an attacker unrestricted access to your computer. Therefore, please, visit the Microsoft Update Website and follow the on screen instructions to setup Microsoft Update. Also follow the instructions to update your system. Please REBOOT and repeat this process until there are no more updates to install!! [*]Keep your other software up to date as well Software does not need to be made by Microsoft to be insecure. The MOST IMPORTANT part of any security setup is keeping the software up to date. Malware writers release new variants every single day. If your software updates don't keep up, then the malware will always be one step ahead. Not a good thing. This is a short scan that will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. * Once the short scan has finished, Click Options > Change settings * Choose the "Scan tab" and UNcheck "Heuristic analysis" * Back at the main window, click "Custom Scan", then Select drives (a red dot will show which drives have been chosen). * Then click the "Start/Stop Scanning" button (green arrow on the right) and the scan will start. * When done, a message will be displayed at the bottom advising if any viruses were found. * Click "Yes to all" if it asks if you want to cure/move the file. * When the scan has finished, look if you can see the icon next to the files found. If so, click it, then click the next icon right below and select "Move incurable". (This will move it to the C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\DoctorWeb\Quarantine folder if it can't be cured) * Next, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list. * Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop. * Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done. * Important!   10. Java Outdated Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to exploit and infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update: Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 6 and save it to your desktop. Look for "JDK 6 Update 21 (JDK or JRE)". Click the "Download JRE" button to the right. Select your Platform: "Windows". Select your Language: "Multi-language". Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". Click Continue and the page will refresh. Under Required Files, check the box for Windows Offline Installation, click the link below it and save the file to your desktop. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java. Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46 Update/Run Malwarebytes Double Click the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware icon to run the application. Click on the update tab then click on Check for updates. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Once the update has loaded, go to the Scanner tab and select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

  18. Turn off System Restore. Restart your PC. Run a full scan with MalwareBytes. If it doesn't find anything...that's all If it does find something... Open Notepad. Copy and paste the following text into it: Note: remover.exe must be on your desktop !!!!!! Save it as Fix.bat at the desktop. Make sure the Save as type: is All Files (*.*).
