  1. Instructed by MBAM Tech to use process explorer to create Mini Dump of mbam.exe under Chameleon. Received error "Error opening process - access denied" Is this due to mbam security ? Other processes can take mini dump. - Logon has Admin Priveleges.
  2. What is the purpose of the newsletter ? Other users on FB received emails. If you can't answer the question, maybe someone else will chime in.
  3. XP/Pro SP3 As part of fixing the ZA / MBAM 1.60 freeze problem, was instructed to delete the mbamservice.exe module and replace with the downloaded fix module. What better way, then to use fileassassin supplied with mbam other tools, right ? Was signed on as administrator, but got access denied with both Windows delete & fileassassin. Fileassassin cannot delete a file in the mbam folder ? I am almost certain both ZA & MBAM both were not active when attempting delete, but not positive. My only solution was to rename the existing file, then copy the new file into the folder.
  4. Although I have signed up for the newsletter last year, I had no knowledge of the v1.60 beta testing. More to the point, I have never received any newsletter, since v1.43, nor any email or anything announcing new releases or beta testing. I am one of the unfortunates who had the freeze problem with ZA free edition. It is difficult to contribute in Beta Test, (as I was told to do in my correspondence with support) if one is unaware it is even going on. The only way I knew of the new release was by reading a post on your Facebook page, and by then, the Beta was over ! All is well now, as I applied the fix for ZA problem, but what must I do to be kept current on product testing -fixes-new releases ?
  5. When running a Flash (Memory) Scan, why is there so much HD Activity ?
  6. No, it is not normal. It should be: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents
  7. During startup this morning received an Alert message stating "Mbamservice has stopped unexpectedly. Review the Event Log" There is no Event Log. Makes an experienced Windows person want to go to the Event Viewer, when the error is actually in the "Protection-Log".. Protection-Log Error: 04:50:45 Ken ERROR UtilityReadFile failed with error code 32 04:50:46 Ken MESSAGE Protection stopped On restart, Everything is ok: 04:55:09 (null) MESSAGE Protection started successfully 04:55:30 Ken MESSAGE IP Protection started successfully Suggest developers cleanup this nuance. PS: If a restart, as in my case, fixes it, why not say so in the Protection-Log" ?
  8. 10:20:34 Ken IP-BLOCK 184.173.97.196 (Type: outgoing) 10:20:37 Ken IP-BLOCK 184.173.97.196 (Type: outgoing) 10:20:43 Ken IP-BLOCK 184.173.97.196 (Type: outgoing) 10:20:55 Ken IP-BLOCK 184.173.97.196 (Type: outgoing) 10:20:58 Ken IP-BLOCK 184.173.97.196 (Type: outgoing) Why are there multiple blocks to the test site when I click on the Link one time ?
  9. The error msg pop up referred to a length error. (didn't save screen shot). Nothing has changed in startup since PRO was installed in July, so what process would occassionally be using the file at startup ? What I mean is, only twice, have I had to do this delete of rules.ref, since 7/15/2011, and the system runs practically 24/7 with updates and scans being performed and nothing seems to be using the file except MBAM, I would think.
  10. Logs: yes, you can click on "item" to sort, but it is in ascending not descending order. I could delete all logs, i guess, but i read somewhere in forums to keep logs.
  11. Received MBAM (PRO) error on Startup again. (2nd time in last month or so.) Problem solved by deleting rules.ref & reboot. Database gets redownloaded. After reboot Protection log shows error: utilityreadfile failed with error code 32. Just posting this, so if other users experience same problem.
  12. How about including the Time with the Date in the info, in as much as Pro auto update has multiples within a 24 hour period. Also, put logs in most recent 1st. Getting tired of scrolling to bottom !
  13. I always see posts by users who have lost their registration ID & Key, and they are advised to contact, blah blah blah. Is it Taboo to tell them in a post, it is in a registry hive, and direct them to it ? I never see that as a reply, although I have used PM to tell a user where to find it.
  14. Nothing was inadvertently cvlicked. Again this morning, 1st update after boot, with Flash Scan, puts the Flash Scan log out of sequence. The protection Log, on the other hand is in sequence, as the last entry, where it should be. Is there going to be a fix for this ?
  15. Agree with exile - Running both on two machines and no problems with conflicts at all
  16. Yes, clicking on the header sequenced the log. Why should a user have to do this or even have to ask the question?
  17. Hello Mainard. A different senario this time. Booted the system hour or so ago, got my update, and flash scan, as scheduled. Log shows flash scan our of sequence. Closed MBAM, and reopened from System Tray; Flash Scan Still out of sequence. I closed and reopened twice, but still shows out of sequence.
  18. "Close & open the scanner" - not sure what you mean - Close out of mbam, then reopen it from system tray ?
  19. click on your settings tab and check automatically save log file after scan
  20. Thanks, 1PW. I thought about that solution, after I had already posted. What horror stories have you heard (iv'e seen a few) about not being able to boot after replacing the battery ?
  21. Running Pro Version - It seems whenever I do a manual quick scan from the GUI, and locate the Log, it is out of sequence within Date. Scrolling up, then down within the Log file, then puts it in proper order within date. Reference the 08-13-2011 03:12:58 Entry.
  22. Think I may have replied to you on facebook page; sounds very familiar. anyhow, Have you tried dougnox.com ? Has batch file (XP for sure) to restore all default file assocs, but not 3rd party, if that helps.
  23. Not sure how old, guess I will look it up. System is a DELL Optiplex GS270, I'm guessing 2003-2004
  24. XP/PRO SP3 (updated to current) This morning the boot process had stopped because of a bad system date (May 2003). - F1 to continue or F2 to enter Setup. So I entered setup and corrected the date, and Boot processs completed. Shutdown last evening appeared normal, logging off, saving settings, shutting down. This happened one other time, under same condition, about a week ago (Normal shut down.) Event viewer for this morning showed 3 errors, but not obvious as to concerning date/time. And of course, the MS Knowledgebase has no info. I am including three errors in event log, Additionally, have run MBAM & AVAST scans (no detections) and no HW or SW changes recently. And System otherwise is running without problems. Any Ideas ?
  25. My question is this: If you put the infected drive in another computer (secondary or slave drive), isn't it scanned as though it were a "flat file" ? Specifically, entry points for malware aren't loaded, and Registry Hives wouldn't be scanned ? ? Seems to me the scan would not be very effective.
