  1. Dell GX270 Optiplex 3gb Ram running Windows XP Pro preinstalled, so I have no CD. Hello: I am a long time user of MBAM, and am returning to the Experts for HELP ! Although I used AVAST Internet Security as well as MBAM Premium (I guess it is called now) I seem to have picked up malware/virus. I have a Windows repair tool from Tweaking.com I want to run, and it sets the safe boot switch to run in safe mode. When the system restarts, it says "safe Mode" at bottom of screen, and one can see the drivers being loaded, then a short pause occurs, then the DELL flash screen pops up, and the boot into safe mode starts all over again, and again etc. The same happens if one presses the F8 key to manually enter Safe mode. And, the boot.ini is not set for safeboot; it is set for fast detect, without safeboot. What I have Done I was working with "Stefan" previously to try to resolve, but to no avail. I have reloaded and run MBAM scans - No Threats found. Chameleon - No threats found. But after running I was unable to get back to the folder where Chameleon was located, or I just couldn't find it again ! Ran Dr Web Cureit - Nothing found Ran Rogue Killer - Removed PUP, PUM registry entries. Burned and ran Kapersky Rescue Disk 10 yesterday - No threats found. Saved a doc to desktop, but even with refresh of desktop, it does not appear; but resave the same doc name, and it appears on the save screen and asks to overwrite it. I run with task mgr active and although system idle shows like 95% the system get unresponsive for a while. Sometimes task mgr shows 00 for all processes, but can't do anything.
  2. If it does, it is quite difficult to discern against a blue task bar background. I will have to look more closely, but why would the person in charge choose grey (the other taskbar color) ?? Makes better sense to make it more promonent - red orange etc.
  3. From time to time on startup, MBAM starts with Partial Protection, which the user does not know unless one brings up the MBAM screen (which is a pain due to length of time to load it), then goes to the protection tab where one can see a different color and partial protection message. Even at that, user cannot start the web site blocking on the protection screen, but a reboot usually resolves it. When the partial protection happens, a log entry is generated, so my suggestion is to change the systray icon from blue to red, orange or other color, so user knows immediately there is a problem,
  4. Apparently the changes that were made to the website blocking to improve performance has helped significantly to allow the boot process to complete. There is still a short period or time where the system is locked at 99% of mbmamservice.exe, but at least it does not take 10-12 minutes to boot anymore.
  5. It has been a month since this post, and I would like to know if any progress has been made in resolving this issue of older machines and mbamservice.exe hanging issues. I still run with partial protection, as I have seen no announcements regarding this issue.
  6. So we have to log in here every day and look for a post ? Not in the habit of coming here every day !
  7. Was advised by Advancedsetup to do the following: AdvancedSetup said: ====================================================================== Please read the following as I think this may be part of your issue. http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=124857&view=findpost&p=667323 Please try disabling the Web blocker and see if that corrects the issue you're having and let me know. Thanks I did so, and it did resolved the long delay, but running with partial protection when I paid for website protection in the PRO version certainly does not sit well with me, as I am sure it does not with others, either. How will Pro users be notified of progress or solution to this problem ????
  8. NOTE: Did not include Host file because I am using hosts manager (250,000 entries). Also, TFC.EXE would not run, go to point where "shutting down resources or something like that, desktop did not disappear, and could not click on anything and get a response. System was completely hung; waited like 15 minutes and nothing heppened. Result.txt AdwCleanerR1.txt OTL.Txt Extras.Txt vew.txt
  9. Uninstalled MBAM, restarted twice, reran dds attach.txt dds.txt CheckResults.txt
  10. Exclusion set in MBAM: C:program files\comodo\comodo internet security, and Malwarebytes is listed as trusted in Comodo. Comodo has been running on this computer since middle of last year, with no recent quarantines or infections. What additional computer info are you requesting ? PS: What contention could there be ? Task Manager shows one task (mbsmservice.exe taking 99% CPU, and nothing else at startup time.

  12. Recently experiencing the following behavior, during system startup: mbamservice.exe runs at 97% to 99% for six to seven minutes before dropping to a normal usage, allowing boot procedure to continue. XP/Pro - 1 GB - Comodo CIS
  13. I occasionally receive this error at startup. Several minutes after the error, the scheduled update of the signature DB completes successfully, but the MBAM system tray Icon does not appear. If I click on the desktop MBAM Icon, msg says MBAM is already running. When I reboot, everything works normally. http://img405.images...05/55761159.jpg The system is XP/Pro SP3, currently running Comodo CIS & MBAM Pro with exclusions set for both. Please Note: This error has occured randomly at startup, with other AV's, and I have tried a few.....Avast, Avira, AVG, and MSE.
  14. More often than not, I cannot get logged on. Simply returns me to the same screen, that I left, to logon. Yesterday, logon accepted 1st time. Today, had to try logon several times, unsuccessfully. Then, scrolled down to this forum, and logon accepted. This has been happening for over a month now. Using XP/SP3, Firefox
  15. @Shiftsonal - I had the same issue with erunt\autobackup.exe this afternoon, but not this morning. Have been using erunt since 2005, and believe the issue to be false positive. Ky331 - didn't see your post about the fix, before I posted !
  16. Installing a new version of the software, overwrites the current version of the signature database with an older version, then gives a message, the DB is outdated, and must update to the current DB that was there to begin with. Makes no sense.
  17. I followed your advice, and dumped ZA firewall + Anti Virus in favor of Comodo + Avira. So far, Flash Scan is back to normal speed at startup. I no longer see contention, and MBAM is getting it all during this time. Thank you for the advice.
  18. Thanks for your input. Apparently, Checkpoint's ZA module vsmon.exe is conflicting. After several days of watching this, it has a CPU Time (not CPU) of 3-to-1 over MBAM.exe (3.01 vs 1:16). But there is high cpu usage or vsmon.exe, with MBAM getting much less. This was not evident when previously running ZA without their Antivirus, but running MSE instead. However; at that time, msmpeng.exe would interfere, just as vsmon does now. That's why I switched to ZA antivirus. No happy medium it seems. So if switching to Comodo firewall is recommended, which antivirus plays nicely with it & MBAM ? PS: I did leave plenty of time for mbam to kick in.
  19. Update 6/30/2012: Startup this morning without ZA loaded. MBAM started, without executing update/flash scan. It should have, as computer was off for 4-6 hours. Immediately did manual request for update (received some) and manual flashscan. (scan = 1 min 25 secs) Started ZA: Did Manual flash scan - 7 min 35 secs (During this scan mbamservice was also using high cpu cycles, receiving more updates, I assume. Flash scan: automatic after update - 5 min 48 sec. Also during these updates, There were no balloon notifications that the DB was updated. I do not recall these problems happening when I ran ZA Free firewall (Sans Antivirus), but it appears ZA Free, with Anti Virus is not playing nice with MBAM.
  20. After Windows startup was complete: 1) - Ran Flash Scan with ZA running: 2 min 45 secs. 2) - Exited ZA - Ran Flash Scan: 1 min 18 secs. I will eliminate ZA for next reboot / MBAM update/flash scan and report results.
  21. No scans scheduled at startup. ZA firewall & Antivirus installed - Exclusions set. Never used Norton Mcafee. - Using XP/Pro
  22. Over the past month or so, Flash scan has extended its run time from a couple of minutes to 7-8 minutes. This seems to happen during startup, and not so much during updates of the day. Scanning Registry objects takes 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, in itself, then another 5 minutes to scan. Followed advice from TM (support), deleting cache & temp files, but this had no affect. Protection Log: 2012/06/28 02:01:40 -0400 HARRISON-0EKUAG MESSAGE Executing scheduled scan: Flash Scan | -terminate 2012/06/28 02:01:41 -0400 HARRISON-0EKUAG MESSAGE Scheduled scan executed successfully MBAM Log: Scan type: Flash scan Scan options enabled: Memory | Startup | Heuristics/Extra | Heuristics/Shuriken | PUP | PUM Scan options disabled: Registry | File System | P2P Objects scanned: 191469 Time elapsed: 7 minute(s), 4 second(s)
  23. Someone tell T Mercado. He instructed me to do the procedure.
