  2. Ok please do the following: Download ComboFix from one of these locations: Link 1 Link 2 * IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. **Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures. Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message: Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
  3. Ok Download OTL to your desktop. Double click on OTL to run it. When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output. Under the Standard Registry box change it to All. Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check. Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long. When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL. Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.
  4. Hmm ok is everything blank on your desktop like no icons etc...? Please try to through ccleaner open mbam again and update it then run it once more let it remove what it finds I want to see if it picks anything else up before we start. Post the new log after rebooting and then let me know the state of the computer.

If so please open Internet Explorer any way you can get it open and click the following link: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/fileassoc/xp_exe_fix.zip Save that file to your desktop then right click on it and choose extract all and then let it extract to the desktop. Open the new folder and double click on the exe fix file in there and choose yes to the prompts. Then reboot and see if you can post the mbam log please. If you do not have windows xp then just let me know and do not do the steps above.

On the right-side, all items to be scanned should be checked by default except for "Show All". Leave that box unchecked. Select all drives that are connected to your system to be scanned. Click the Scan button to begin. (Please be patient as it can take some time to complete) When the scan is finished, click Save to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as Results.log and copy/paste the contents in your next reply. Exit the program and re-enable all active protection when done.

Let it finish that then reboot and see if it works.

  9. No do you know what file was removed when this began or what program removed it so I can have a little more info please. Actual file name would be great or at least close to it.

  11. Yes you can re-enable defogger and do the rest to remove what we used. Double click on OTL to run it. Click on the Cleanup button at the top. You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. Choose Yes. This will remove itself and other tools we may have used. ===============Update Java=============== Your Java is out of date.   12. Do you have any other sound cards installed? When it says no audio device is there a drop down menu to the right of it to let you select a secondary device?
  13. Ok the first one is fine since it is looking for the file you renamed. No worries we can leave it alone and the other as well. No problems will come from either the time sync error is always going to be present. It only means that when the s clock was set to sync with the time server it could not. How is it running?
  14. Ok that is why I had you make the backup. Go to C: and double click on the reg file and let it merge again. Reboot and it will be back. Let me know.
  15. It is a registry script. Please download the attached version I will create it for you. Save it to your desktop. Right click on it and choose extract all. Then in the newly extracted folder double click the fix.reg file and choose yes to the prompts. Do not forget to make a backup of the registry first,the instructions are in the post above this one. It is important to make the backup so make sure to do that before importing the reg file. fix.zip

  19. Yes actually simply renaming the r file will keep it from loading. Show hidden files\folders To Show them: Click Start. Open My Computer. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types option. Click Yes to confirm. Click OK then go here : C:\Windows\SysWow64\DRIVERS\ and find the file > mdc8021x.sys right click on it and remove the .sys part and rename it to .old Then click off of the file to save it like that. Reboot and let me know if it helps.
  20. Ok just to be clear you have sound anywhere else programs,startup sounds,etc... except for websites? Have you tried to reinstall Flash player?
  21. OK good it took care of the bad block so no more disk errors. Old wireless software is the cause of this error : \SystemRoot\SysWow64\DRIVERS\mdc8021x.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver. Have you ever had any wireless software installed?   22. Yes it doesn't have any output the only way to tell if it does anything is to go into the event viewer and see if you see any more bad block messages dated from today. To do that click start right then click on My Computer choose manage click the plus sign next to Event Viewer over to the left. Select the System option then over to the right lok for any errors that may say Disk on them if they are red or yellow double click on them and see if it says the following: \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block Let me know if that is present and if not how it is running.

  24. Your logs are clean of malware but you may have a potential hard drive failure in the nesr future according to the event viewer. It may not fail but usually when I see those errors it does mean the drive is starting to go bad.We can try to repair the bad block by doing the following: Go to Start >Run type in cmd then hit ok. THen type in this chkdsk /r /f then hit enter. Type in Y at the prompt and then restart the computer. Let it run through this check and then let me know how it goes.
