  1. I got hit by a hijack site, and it put some TR/DropperGen4.Trojan copies onto my system. I got rid of them with Avira. I scanned with Avira, and then MbaM, and everything seemes ok, but my system is acting ...."slow" and kinda wierd.... Here is my recent HJT log..... it looks OK to me, but I need a more learned opinion.... 2. I was attacked this morning by the falsealert.trojan virus. In the comments section you will see my accolades to MBAM as I kicked it's butt, and fixed my problem just like that..... Anyway, I had a new problem updating. Error 732 (12029,0). I did a search on the forum, and found this post. Sure enough, proxy server was checked in my IE LAN settings (I wonder if the virus did that). Anyway, I unchecked it, problem solved . Thank you so much for your advice......
  3. OK, this thing was the FakeAlert.Trojan thing. I hope there's a special place in HE** for the people who write these things......
  4. I watched the ball drop down while drinking Boone's Farm wine and beer. I went outside and shot off some bottle rockets I had left over from last year, and then went inside. The neighbors continued shooting off fireworks, but I was out of stuff to shoot off (except for my guns, but I didn't want the cops coming over). So I got on my computer to look for some clip art for a logo for my new web page. I ran "free clip art" in Google and then on about the 10th page all hell broke loose. A virus or some such thing took over my computer. It wouldn't let me do anything, and it kept telling me to activate my "Anti virus program". It kept beeping and putting stuff in my system tray, and giving me all sorts of warning messages. But the message, as well as some other "infiltration" warnings, were not the stuff that I usually see from Avira, so I knew it was a virus. I found that I could only run programs like avira or mbam after restarting, and then immediately going to those programs, because after about 30 seconds after a restart no program could run; the virus would say "program not responding because such and such file is infected" , which was another bogus warning. It even tried to direct me to porn.com and adult.com! It was constantly trying to get me to activate it's Antivirus Live program, which it had planted (without my consent) in my system tray. After Avira failed finding anything, I restarted and quickly started MBAM. MBAM immediately found 4 infected files (registry keys, I think, but I don't know; I haven't looked closely at the log file yet). I let it run a full scan, and when it was running final heuristics, it found one more infection. When I removed these 5 infected files, my problem immediately went away. I am thrilled that this happened! What a way to start the new year! MBAM helped me about a year ago, and on your advice I started using Avira and Spybot S & D. Between these three programs, NOTHING can get through to you! MBAM is the ultimate anti-malware program; MBAM and Avira complement each other....... Kudos to the MBAM developers and staff! I've always used the free version, but I'm going to purchase the other version from you! I want to send some cash your way...... You guys/girls are the best! Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.' I bought her a scale. And then the fight started... ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive... so, I took her to a gas station. And then the fight started... ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table. My wife asked, 'Do you know her?' 'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.' 'My God!' says my wife, 'who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?' And then the fight started... ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first. "I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please." He said, "Aren't you worried about the mad cow?"" Nah, she can order for herself." And then the fight started... ------------ --------- --------- --- A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.' The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's nearly perfect.' And then the fight started..... ------------ --------- --------- ------ I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95. I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream. And then the fight started.... ------------ --------- --------- --------- ----- My wife asked me if a certain dress made her butt look big. I told her not as much as the dress she wore yesterday and then the fight started..... ------------ --------- --------- --------- ------ A man and a woman were asleep like two innocent babies. Suddenly, at 3 o'clock in the morning, a loud noise came from outside. The woman, bewildered, jumped up from the bed and yelled at the man 'Holy crap. That must be my husband!' So the man jumped out of the bed; scared and naked jumped out the window. He smashed himself on the ground, ran through a thorn bush and to his car as fast as he could go. A few minutes later he returned and went up to the bedroom and screamed at the woman, 'I AM your husband!' The woman yelled back, 'Yeah, then why were you running?' And then the fight started..... ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- ---- Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day. I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The weather out there is terrible.' My loving wife of 10 years replied, 'Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?' And then the fight started ... ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- ---- I asked my wife, "Where do you want to go for our anniversary? " It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said. So I suggested, "How about the kitchen?" And that's when the fight started.... ------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- ---- My wife and I are watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed. I turned to her and said, "Do you want to have sex?" "No," she answered. I then said, "Is that your final answer?" She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying "Yes." So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend." And that's when the fight started....
  7. Thanks-- I checked it with Avira, and everything's cool. I really appreciate your help.

  9. I wish I had an inkling of how to do what you guys do! MBAM is an awesome program, and your advice regarding other programs to complement it (ex Avira) has changed my whole computer security stance. Your wonderful assistance, besides being free, is the best part of this whole thing. You guys are dedicated to beating malware and viruses. I
  10. I restarted a couple of times, and the problem appears to be fully resolved.... everything's clean, both browsers working fine with no re-directs...... I hope I'm not being premature, but THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! As soon as I can, I'm going to upgrade my Malwarebytes program, just so I can give you guys some money..... this program, and all of this wonderful assistance, is VALUABLE stuff
  11. Yes, I did a full scan with Avira (updated today) before I did the mbam scan. The avira scan said everything was fine (well, not in those words, but it detected nothing)
  12. I have done exactly as you said. Below are the scan results that I did AFTER the HJT fix was completed. Neither apparently show anything; but I would rather you decide if this is so...... 14. My problems are FIXED! BOTH of my browsers are no longer redirected to psedo- "search"pages (spam pages) or any such thing, and BOTH browsers can now access the web pages that were blocked (my home page, and my local newspaper)! Those registry key things that you had me fix with Hijack this FIXED both problems! That's SOOOOOO cool! Maybe it's my imagination, but the system seems to run smoother, too. I REALLY appreciate you helping me with this. I'm updating my Java as recommended....... thank you so much!
  15. Ever since my problem started with certain web pages no longer be accessible with my IE7, I've had redirect problems pop up. I always thought this was at the result of my search, but I've got some kind of bug, because this affects me with both IE and Firefox, and sends me to the same page every time. It redirects me.
