  1. You are correct sir. In fact I had eventually downloaded my mbam from Bleeping Computer's site. I was frustrated at the time and I had mentioned them because that was one site NAME that just stuck in my head as i was being directed all over the net. I did have an issue trying to download the mbam as directed but easily solved that through signing on as another Admin capable user on my puter. Much Luv to Bleeping Computer and of course MBAM. -Mojo
  2. So i had the free version of MB on my desktop and my McAfee had just run out in Dec 2010, but i clicked on an ad for a shiny new gadget (a cool looking clear acrylic smart phone - 'the bait') and was instantly infected with the XP Security 2011 rogue antivirus. Just like FakeAV of years gone by i assume, but this one won't let me run any programs and specifically seems to be targeting MalwareBytes. I have located it in the TaskManager as a program 'son.exe', starts up everytime I start a program or my IE browser and opens up its security alerts then shuts down the program/browser. I have googled (is that a verb?) and found a few manual fixes but have also found those sites (precisesecurity.com...bleepingcomputer.com) to be untrusted on WOT and by Norton/McAfee. Yesterday I had purchsed 3 MB full subscriptions (2 for my lappy's and one for the infected desktop), installed on my lappies but cannot even start my browser on my desktop. What can i do now? I did order the backup disk from MB should i wait for that to arrive? Just looking for a nudge in any direction. Thanks!
