I might just back up the PC owner's data, then format and install Vista SP2 clean just to be sure that everything is 100% copacetic.

As to why this is SP1 vs SP2 . . . it's not my PC, but I was planning on updating to SP2 and IE9 as soon as this MBAM issue is solved. There were some other minor software issues which have been sorted out except for this last MBAM problem..... anyway.... I have attached the requested logs as zip files (I hope ZIPs are OK).

Oh yeah - this is a Vista 32bit SP1 PC, the MBAM is the newest release, version 1.65.0.1400....

I installed MBAM Pro, activated it, and everything seems to be OK except I can't enable website blocking. I have uninstalled MBAM, run the "mbam-clean" tool, re-installed MBAM (with a reboot between each step) and still I can't enable web site blocking. The option is listed, but clicking on it does nothing; the check-box remains empty. The same thing happens if I try using the MBAM icon in the system tray down by the clock, and that icon is not red, it's kind of black or dark-dark purple (the other screen shot). I attached a screen shot below even though it probably wasn't necessary. There's a bit of a rush on this so if anyone has any ideas, suggestions, etc, PLEASE post!

Uhhh.... I can't find an "Edit" button..... the following statement "... and should cause MBAM to be COMPLETELY removed from the msconfig > Startup list ..." should obviously have the word "not" immediately following "... and should ...".

I have a client that purchased the full PRO version of MBAM back in March 2011. About 2 weeks ago, the MBAM completely disappeared from my client's PC. There were not even any leftover registry entries or folders in "Program Files". There was a folder or two in the asst'd User Profile folders. The desktop icon was gone also. Now, again the desktop icon is gone, there is still a MalwareBytes folder in c:\Program Files but only about half of the needed files are there, mbamgui.exe is gone, mbamservice.exe is gone, etc. In the event viewer, there is an error entry mentioning mbamservice.exe as a faulting application. That was about 5 days ago and no other MBAM related entries are in the Event Viewer; however, an application fault in mbamservice.exe should not cause the MBAM desktop icon to disappear from 2 user accounts, should not cause MalwareBytes to no longer be listed in both user account "All Programs" lists, and should cause MBAM to be COMPLETELY removed from the msconfig > Startup list. This 2nd time MBAM disappeared, the registry keys are fully intact, but the first time it vanished all registry entries were gone also. At first I thought maybe we had accidentally sold our client the Corporate 1 year license, and that it had uninstalled itself, but it hasn't been a year since the original install of MBAM. I then thought that maybe the same license was being used on 2 different PCs, and that MBAM would remove itself if it was discovered via an online check that the same license was on 2 different PCs, but the client does not have a 'hard copy' of the license product keys and does not have the 'know-how' to extract it from the PC, and would therefore be unable to install a 2nd copy on a 2nd PC (as far as I know). I'm not sure if this s problem with MBAM, but I have seen MBAM Pro vanish from a PC before, but re-installing after using the mbam-clean.exe utility worked the other time MBAM disappeared..... just wondering what's going on.... if any more info is needed, feel free to ask.... oh, all rootkit and malware scans have come up clean today.... I have not yet re-installed MBAM Pro on the client's PC; I'm hoping for some info first....

I think it would be a great idea to add an "exceptions list" for the IP blocker.... for some reason, Skype is being blocked on a friends laptop and the only way to get Skype to work is to temporarily turn off the website/IP blocker. I think if there was an exceptions list for the website/IP blocker, it would make things a bit easier and more secure: instead of completely disabling the feature, it could be programed to let certain IPs thru that normally would be blocked.
Just a thought for a future revision of MBAM.

I ran a full scan yesterday, and the files listed in the screen shots above were completely removed. If I go to C:\Program Files (x86), there are no folders for either of the programs/files shown in the shots above; they were removed. That's why I refer to these as "ghosts". I have had these "ghosts" before with different files (I linked to a thread about these other "ghosts" in post above). So, I'm familiar with what's going on, and it's not as "nasty" as it might appear. I simply wanted to know if the BAT files I was provided with previously will work for these new "ghosts". Anyway- I've attached the scan log from yesterday.

I started a thread a couple weeks back about this same issue, but this time it's with different files (screen shots attached) and a different PC. In this thread, I was given some BAT files to run that got rid of the ghostings. I'm assuming I can use the same BATs for these ghosts too?

Thanks for the fast reply!!!! The PC had Norton360, but it was expired and I uninstalled it, but I did that *after* installing MBAM... OK- so I'll remove MBAM (yes - I have the license key numbers) -reboot -run the clean tool -reboot again (even if not necessary) -reinstall MBAM.... we'll see how it goes!

The error is attached as a screenshot....
The MBAM icon does not appear in the tray down by clock, and I get the error upon rebooting, and also after closing the MBAM GUI.

Sorry, it took me a couple days to get back here..... I just applied the fixes as described, and so far, so good!
They seem to have done the job! THANKS A MILLION!!! I've saved the files to my flash drive because I've had this same scenario happen numerous times (I have a couple threads here in the MBAM forums about this issue also). So, now that I have these BAT files, I can take care of the false GAMEVANCE and RELEVANTKNOWLEDGE ghostings....THANKS AGAIN!!!

It appears that MBAM has another file that it "ghosts", just like the GAMEVANCE DLL file that is not to be found anywhere on the PC, MBAM is flagging RLLS64.DLL which is a file from Relevant Knowledge adware/spyware. I have performed exhaustive searches (both hard drive and registry) and the file RLLS64.DLL is not on the PC. Screenshot attached....
When are the fine folks at MalwareBytes going to fix this bug? I have only seen this happen with the Gamevance infection and now the Relevant Knowledge infection. I have also removed both Gamevance and Relevant Knowledge from Add/Remove Programs prior to scanning with MBAM, but it still "ghosts" the file even though it's not there.

Well, I see that others have suggested it, but I'd like to add a vote to having a exclusion (or "Ignore") list for IP adresses as well as files/programs....

MBAM is still the BEST in malware protection!!! Keep up the good work!

Yup - looks like we're in the same boat here . . . I'll let the user know to simply click "Quarantine" each time he boots up, and hopefully the MBAM developers will drop a "fix" in to a future update . . . however - if someone has fix for this, feel free to clue us in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting a false or "ghost" hit on a file with MBAM. I'm using the full active paid version of MBAM, and every time the PC loads to the Vista desktop, I get an MBAM "malicious process detected" (screen shot attached below). The thing is, the path/file/folder listed by MBAM does not exist. There is no "Gamevance" folder in "C:\Program Files". I have used several HD and registry searching tools to scan for anything with "gamevance" in it, anything with "gamev", anything with "gv", etc.... and the searches always come up empty. I have tried the "Ignore" button, I have tried the "Quarantine" button, no dice. I have run full scans with other applications (Avira and Super Antispyware) and they come up clean. So - what's the deal?

MBAM installs OK, it updates OK, but as soon as I try to enable the real-time protection after typing in my product keys, I get the error attached below....

The PC is free of malware. I was only running a scan to test the functionality of MBAM to make sure it was stable after getting the error during the install. So- I am going to try the steps provided above in post #3 and will report back.... thanks again....

Well, things have become a bit more interesting.... I cancelled the scan (it was more of a test to see how things were running after that error popped up; I'm 95% sure the PC is clean), then entered the registration codes and enabled active protection. As soon as I did this, Internet Explorer stopped working; the home page would open for maybe 2-3 seconds, then IE would close. I uninstalled MBAM, and IE now works fine.... I'll try the above steps tomorrow and report back. THANKS!

I don't see an "edit" option for my post, but this is on Windows XP Pro SP3, 1gb memory, over 40gb of free space on drive C:, Toshiba Portege laptop.... thanks!

A screen shot is attached. This error comes up at the very end of the install, after clicking "OK" to start the update and to launch MBAM. If I close the error, then start MBAM from the desktop icon, it opens fine, I can update OK, and it seems to scan OK (I'm running a scan right now). So the error appears to have ill effects other than stopping the first update/launch at the end of the install.... any thoughts? I already used the mbam-clean tool as suggested in other threads, followed by a reboot, but it still pops the error....

Although I very rarely use the "Ignore" button after I'm presented with the results of a scan, it would be great if we could select more than one item at a time to be ignored. For example: if there are 20 items listed and I want to ignore them all, I must select one and click the "Ignore" button, then select the next item and click "Ignore", then select the next item and click "Ignore", and so on, one item at a time until all of 'em are ignored. This can be really time consuming and cumbersome if, for example, the result list has over 200 items and I want to ignore 50 of 'em and remove the rest. I'd have to select the items to be ignored one at a time, and click the "ignore" button 50 times.... anyway..... it would be nice if we had the ability to select more than one item at a time for the "Ignore" option.

OK..... I'll think I'll go with plan B in the interest of time: I've already saved the owner's data to an external drive... now I'm gonna wipe the drive and install a clean OS.... thanks for your help!
