  1. ok..Here's the solution. I got it on this site from a guy named 'AdvancedSetup.' I am forever grateful to his posting. I tried a million different things but this was simple and best of all....it worked. The trick is as follows: 1. click on 'start', click 'run', and then type: devmgmt.msc and click OK 2. On the View menu click on: Show hidden devices 3. Browse to: Non-Plug and Play Drivers until you find TDSSserv.sys 4. Highlight that driver and right click on it and select DISABLE 5. Restart your computer. 6. Download a copy of Malwarebytes but do not run it yet. 7. Rename the downloaded installer file to any generic name (it could be your own name) but keep the .EXE extension on the file...... Now you can run it. 8. Once the program is installed go to the UPDATE tab and try to update the program if you can. 9. Then go to SCANNER and run a Quick Scan and .... voila! Virus destroyed! The key step that everyone missed was disabling the TDSSserv.sys, whatever the heck that is. Another thing you might try after step 5 above if you are still having a problem opening the downloaded Malwarebytes is to download it to a good computer and store it on a flash drive. Then attach the flash drive to the bad pc and run the program off the flash drive. Whoever created this virus should be locked up for life!
