  1. Hey I got sent a file, it was an EXE, cant say what it is, but it came up as a hacktool or something, from a trusted friend, but he said he's used it for years and no problem... Could it be a false negative? Anyways MSE blocked it before i could do anything. Im not too sure if i should use it though :/ (cant say what im going to use it for either). Its a win32 hacktool medium threat or something.
  2. hey im thinking of installing spyware guard but i read the database is like 6 years out of date and is never updated anymore... http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html#FAQ says last time was 2004...
  3. i scanned it and it said it was safe... wait i think i installed it wrong... im going to try to install the program one more time and see if that fixes it... but the dll came up as clean, and had been scanned before, with 2 good reviews saying goodware. Seems ok i guess...
  4. no its not a microsoft DLL, and its a software dll, i did reinstall but still didnt work so i need to download the dll. How do i verify if its the same MD5 dll? Like i search google but then what?
  5. how guys... how do i check if a DLL is safe or not? I need to download it, or want to, but im not sure if safe or not... can you guys give me some advice on how to check?
  6. nooo nooo im not infected, but i need to download one as its apparantly missing... but not sure if safe... Link removed i will be downlaoding it from this site but not sure if safe... (sory wont be posting which dll it is.. but need a way to identify if its safe )
  7. is it possible for DLL files to have viruses? will scanning them be enough if they can be malicouse?
  8. thank you very much, i have unzipped the file, and i have also scanned, no virus definitions came up.
  9. i had bad expereince with avast, kaspersky costs money which i do not have
  10. How do i go about scanning iso files for viruses. I had zip files and i unzipped them and it came up with an iso file. I scanned with both microsoft security essential and malwarebytes free and nothing came up. any ideas?
  11. ok i did as you said, and did the full format, hopefully all the viruses are gone
  12. Ok so i turned off autorun on my pc, and i put in my external hard drive, 500GB, and when i try to do a normal format to ntfs it doesnt work, just takes damn ages (probs looking for bad boot sectors on hdd), but quick format does the job quickly and easily, if i suspect, dont know if there is or not, but if i suspect thre are viruses in that hard drive, is quick format enough? Or is it really reccomended to do a full format?
  13. oh ok so if i sandbox in comodo firewall... it should be safe and i can scan in there. So should i unzip in the sandbox? BTW im not writing some stupid essay.... damit i dont know how to sandbox the folder or the zip files in comodo.
  14. hey i want to do a weekly full scan with malwarebytes free and Microsoft security essential but i dont know how to do auto shutdown. Any way i can do this. And any way i can make it so that after using Microsoft security essentials it will scan with malwareybytes and then shut down? thank you
  15. ah ok, how do i scan within a sandbox. And what does sandbox even actually mean? BTW im using comodo firewall... that has sandbox but i dunno how to scan within it.
  16. ok mr firefox man. I have a problem when trying to scan. I right click one of the parts and click scan with microsoft security essentials but its not scanning... it comes up with the scan thing for like 1 second, and thats it... its bugging me now malwarebytes seems to work. Im scanning each part seperately with malwarebytes. But is it normal for the scan to finish for a 2gb file to be done in 8 seconds? Its in parts so its around 8 -9 gb all together. So what can i do, how do i scan without getting infected. Also if i download something, and unzip it, is there any chance of me getting infected?
  17. i have Microsoft seucirty essentials but not malwarebyte pro
  18. thanks, so i also have a few exe's that my friend gave, they are programs, how do i check if they have viruses. And how do i check if there are malwares in the zip files?
  19. My friend sent me a big file but he split it into parts by compression of 7zip compression software thing. Now its in 4 parts, but im worried it might have viruses in it. I know scanning it is the best thing i can do as it looks into it. But 1) does scanning a zip file even work. Does it find all the stuff? 2) Also since it is in parts, what if there is a virus, wont the virus be in parts? 3) And if it is, will it not come up? Im just worried as alot of people have viruses on pc's and they spread like mad and there is always a chance... Also another question is, 4)will scanning exe files be enough to see if they have viruses inside? And my final question is 5) How do i scan a single file using Malwarebytes? When i go on malwarebytes i see full, and quick scan... Thank you everyone!
