  1. I'm on safe mode because after like 3 minutes of being on Normal, the keyboard and mouse stop working. Software continues to work in the background, but there's nothing I can do. When on Safe mode, I don't have this issue, however, sound doesn't work... I'm aware that it's not recommended, but I've not had a problem on any of my other PC's (Both Vista and Win 7) when enabling sound.
  2. Hey, I've been having a problem lately with Safe Mode. I can't get sound to work. I know the driver isn't supposed to be enabled to begin with while in safe mode, but I remember getting it to work with a registry file before. The issue I'm having is that I can't find the same reg file I used to enable sound. I tried one today, it was called: Activate Sound in SafeMode.reg and was about 3.5 KB in size, but that one didn't work and yes, I tried restarting afterwards. So, if anybody comes across another reg file, other than the one I listed above, please post it here, even if you have another idea on how to get it to work I'd appreciate that, too. Thanks!
  3. I use all of those, except for request policy. I didn't have any incompatibility issues using them. If you want more protection outside of Firefox, I'd personally recommend a good firewall, such as Zone Alarm: http://www.zonealarm.com/ Along with a security program like exe radar: http://www.novirusthanks.org/products/category/anti-executable/ Oh, and a better, custom version of Task manager like System Explorer: http://systemexplorer.net/ The list can go on, but those are my favorites.
  4. Probably because she has a kid and wants to know if he/she has been accessing sites he or she shouldn't be. To answer your question, there's a program that does this called insight http://www.faronics.com/products/insight/ Although, it's targeted towards classroom settings and I'm not sure if it will work on a single PC. It lets you see whatever is being accessed in real time. I believe you can even lock down the PC with this, record anything that's going on, and more. I know about this because my college campus uses this. It cost to use, so be sure before paying that you test to see if it works with a demo (I assume they have one)
  5. Alright, I appreciate the help. I'll see about buying a W7 license.
  6. Okay, first off, thanks for the replies. I think I have a CD for another windows 7 Computer. Can I try to install that one from the disk drive? And about the malware thing, I'm pretty sure that there's still something on here, but I've scanned with my anti-virus (Avast), SAS, and MBAM and nothing more comes up. It's incredibly slow without safe mode and scanners freeze when I do a complete scan of my computer. I think it's some sort of rootkit or something, but I don't care if I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows 7, as the problems will be gone, correct? Thanks!
  7. I apologize for a triple post, but I've posted this question on one other place (SuperAntiSpyware forums) and they have not replied either. If this question is just a simple no, please just post something so you don't have to keep hearing from me. I just need to know if it's possible to restore factory settings on my Windows Vista 32 Bit Toshiba Satelite A215 S5837 Please help, and thanks for your time.
  8. Hey, first of all, I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I'm running Windows Vista and I do not have the recovery CD any longer. I wish to restore the factory settings of this PC, so I can use it for Skype, etc. I currently am on Safe Mode, and while I'm not, it's incredibly slow. I did just remove a bunch of crapware from here, yet am still having the slowdowns. I do not need any of the files I've downloaded, so... My question is: Can I do this without the CD? I've tried holding down the '0' key, and a ton of function buttons, but still am having problems. I'm not really wanting to order a CD, as I just paid over 150 USD on a new Battery and Charger. Please, do help if you have any experience doing so. P.S: My PC Model is: Toshiba Satelite A215 S5837
  9. I'm not infected. I asked this because I was curious if the Koobface could bypass the setting I was talking about. I just wanted to know how it exactly worked. But Thanks anyway.
  10. Hi. I've been using Facebook since 2011, and was curious about a couple of things 1. Can the Koobface worm (the one that takes over your Facebook and changes some settings) hack your account and bypass the login approvals thing? (The setting in FB where if someone logs onto your account in an unknown browser/device, it will send you a text and ask you to enter the code they texted to your phone to proceed) 2. If yes to the first question, I need to mention that I have run a program that was identified as the koobface worm (via superantispyware) Yet, I haven't had any problems with my account, nor have I gotten any notifications of someone logging into my account. Is the koobface just outdated and not work anymore? (I.e: Facebook patching it in an update?) Or could it just be a false positive? Just needed to clear this out of my mind. Thanks for any info!
  11. K, I was called by my brother, and he needs help fixing some sort of spyware. First thing i did was scan with MBAM and Avast, then about half way through scanning, it quit and froze. I noticed that his webcam light was on, even though he wasn't using it - So, i opened task manager, and I saw a couple of processes that looked like something I had a while ago: -A.exe -B.exe -C.exe -MSA.exe -Braviax.exe I googled these processes, and all of them appeared to be some sort of malware. I ended up putting black tape over his webcam, after i kept getting a warning about some sort of attack attempting to access the machine. I also noticed that I couldn't kill the processes listed above without them coming back five minutes later. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and both of his Anti-Virus/Spyware are up to date. Yet, this keeps on happening. He also admitted to have "updated his Flash Player" after clicking on a link from his facebook account. I'm going to assume that this is the koobface worm or something similar to it. if this is the case, how can you fix it after it's been taken over, if at all possible.
  12. Hi. I'm getting a warning about this IP address: 217.23.8.71 is trying to access my computer. It says that it's outgoing, and that it's the process avp.exe that's causing the harm. But, I have Kaspersky, and it's main process is avp.exe, so I'm not really sure if it's trying to disable it or something, or if it's a false positive. I've scanned my computer with different anti-virus/anti-spyware, and found nothing. So, if at all possible, could you explain what's going on? the last time I've encountered any type of malware/adware/spyware/virus/trojan etc. was about two months ago. Please help. I'd rather not be apart of a cyber attack! Also, this is what my log file says: 217.23.8.71 (Type: outgoing, Port: 57493, Process: avp.exe) X five.
