  1. I had Kaspersky but now I use Avast! Internet Security. I've contacted iolo and am just waiting to hear back from them, hopefully soon.
  2. I can't get a clean shot of it with my camera, but it doesn't seem to be related to Malwarebytes. It gives an error code and says something about SysMech.exe
  3. I have used the registry cleaning function several times. But I cleaned my temp files only a few days before trying again (which is where the problem happened) and I hadn't cleaned the registry between those periods.
  4. Hello. I clean my temp. files using System Mechanic by iolo. When I ran it this time I received an access violation error pop-up right when the computer shut down. I have no idea what this means or how to repair it. Does anyone know how to repair this? Any help is appreciated.
  5. I haven't done the memory test or the hard drive diagnostics (though I did run iolo System Mechanic which did fix some "hard drive problems.") I ran TFC as soon as I read this and did a full scan with both Malwarebytes and Avast! and neither brought up any results. Then it happened again. I caught what exactly happened. a BSOD came up and I believe mentioned something about data execution prevention and then a system 32 executable file. At least I believe that's what it said, I didn't get a very good look.
  6. How would I test memory and my hard drive. And how do I clean my temp files? Also I have scanned for viruses like mad since it happened.
  7. Okay, hello. I run Avast!(free), Malwarebytes (free), Spybot S&D, and use no-script on firefox, so I am confused to find that today I came home to a computer that wouldn't start-up and needed to run system repair. It ran it on its own and once it was finished it returned to running just fine, but I just want to know why the heck it couldn't start-up suddenly. I haven't posted anything in the forum dealing with viruses because I have no idea if this was caused by one. Is it possible this was some sort of glitch on start-up? I have never done something like defragment the harddrive, so I have no idea if my system is just prone to glitches of this magnitude or if there is indeed something that requires my attention. Any help is appreciated.
  8. Compound as in thermal grease? Yeah, we made sure to wipe down what was left of what was left.
  9. Okay, so now my games run normally. But i'm noticing that they take a considerable time to start up. This is especially true for my MMO, City of Heroes, which takes longer than any of my other games to start up, and its a dated game graphics wise. When in my games they load normally for a few hours and then loading times become noticeable longer. Could all this be related to heat-damage at all?
  10. I did not take pictures when I opened it. But I did manage to fix the problem... at least temporarily. Just added some thermal grease and installed another fan.
  11. GPU measured a bit over 100C according to smartfan. Everything else had green checks next to them.
  12. Today my internet wasn't loading pages, yet it didn't say anything about being pulled offline. So I decided, just for the sack of being sure, to run a quick scan. The first time i ever ran Malwarebytes' quick scan it took around 15 minutes. This one took about 2. Thinking that was weird, I ran another one right after to see what exactly it scanned. That scan took about 50 seconds. Is this a normal occurrence? I don't recall clearing my temp data or anything anytime recently so i'm a bit concerned.
  13. Thanks. My computer is manufactured by Gateway and I can't find any way to perform diagnostics. Gateways support section of their website hasn't proven useful either.
  14. I'm not sure how to measure the cpu temperature; but here is a link to the gateway page of computer model: http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668232.php
