I'm sorry for so late a return, I've been ill. But I have good news. In addition to the problems above I was unable to use task mgr to kill the process running. The machine is a staff PC, so another staff member downloaded iexplore.exe (i'm unfamiliar with it) to kill the process according to the notes I left. The next morning I was able to run malwarebytes & avast, which is the other program on the machine. I am not at the machine currently, as I'm still ill, but when I have the opportunity I will post according with the requested information just to make sure everything is okay.
