I did check my phone. Chrome is different there. Not sure that sync was even on when I first looked at it. But it is now at point when it asks if you want to sync, so I answered, Yes I'm in.
A posted, after I eliminated mykiger and a few other unnneded notifications, I haven't seen any popup from MWB. Best to wait ans see for a while.
-
I went to settings-notifications and removed several sites, Especially MyKiger.com. . This was not mentioned my MWB scan. In any event, haven't seen that trojan popup for about 10 min. Will see how this goes.
-
OK, I followed the instructions. But when I turned sync back on, I immediately received the pop-up again.
This is something that just started out of the blue today. Nothing else changed prior to this.

As of today, I have started to get numerous pop-ups from Malwarebytes. MWB scan doesn't come up with anything. Same with Windows Security. It's doing it while I am typing here! (using Chrome) How do I get rid of this? Details attached. THnks for any help.

Many of those false positives were fixed already and is probably the reasons they were not detected now.
I do not have a detection on those files now.
Great Thanks. Good to know backup program is not infected :)

I would update and un quarantine them.
Please zip and attach them here along with the log showing the detection.
Thanks,
I take it FPs are false positives?
If you meant update MWB? I did that, then removed the files from quarantine. I have attached the MWB log and zips of the actual files. When I tried to email those files to myself, Thunderbird wouldn't do that - said they may have viruses!

ADDED: I scanned those files with MWB today and it said there was no problem!

I use AOMEI Backupper v5.3.0. It has been installed for some time. I did do a backup/restore a few weeks ago. Otherwise I backup on an infrequent basis (data is on cloud)
Today, during a normal scan, Malwarebytes (v4.3.0) reported two issues. I chose to put these in quarantine. The files were in the AOMEI folder in Windows programfiles(x86). Copy of quarantine is attached.
This has never happened before. Has something changed in Malwarebytes? With these files in quarantine, will AOMEI now no longer work? That would mean I have no backups?
I am naturally concerned and need a plan on what to do next to ensure system is backed up.

With Windows 7 you can use Microsoft Security Essentials instead of Windows Defender. It uses the same threat detection engine/signatures as Windows Defender in Windows 8 and Windows 10, though it lacks some of the additional features Microsoft has added recently to Defender in 10.
Years ago, MS abandoned parts of WSE. We used to use Windows Live Mail. Surprised that the virus protection part still works. In any event, support for it supposedly end for individual users in a few weeks. For corporate users with paid licenses, still up in the air, it seems. https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/18614/windows-essentials. And then there are reports that MS might not end MSE updates?? But regardless, life is near end. https://www.techradar.com/news/microsoft-is-killing-off-windows-7-but-microsoft-security-essentials-lives-on
I look after a neighbors computer - he is 93. We decided to leave him on Win7 with MWB Premium as only protection. He has outlived his Windows 7 box!

This thread seems to be developing a life of it's own
Good advice. I have been around this stuff from Day 1. Never have had a virus on any of our computers. On Win7, I originally had WSE plus MWB but since MS dropped WSE support and MWB was upgraded, I have just used MWB Premium. (never did use Defender on Win7). On browser, I do use Ublock Origin instead of Adblock+.
When dodgy emails appear, I always look at the source using CTRL U on Thunderbird. Usually easy enought to see from headers when it should be deleted.
Anyway, we are off subject. My main concern was that Windows 10 upgrade from Windows does not transfer MWB licence seamlessly. And that it seems tied to one OS rather than the computer. Will have to get to that eventually if I start using win10 as main OS.
-
Ok thanks. Will likely continue using Win7 as main OS for now along with MWB. I have other issues with Win10 that I will work on when I can. Not sure how Defender compares with MWB, but at least there will be some protection.

I checked the dpi settings. I had a while back increased the setting from 150% to 157%. Had a reason at the time, but can't recall why. At 150%, the MWB screen is less than 1/2 the width of my screen. At 157% it is almost the full width and the top and bottom are cut off. Other program windows seem to scale proportionally. Something about MWB window sizing?

Greetings,
You will likely need to deactivate the instance installed/active in Windows 7 as I believe that each license can only be in use in a single OS/machine/instance at a time. You may need to increase your screen resolution or decrease your scaling/DPI settings in Windows in order to see the full UI, though you can try maximizing the Malwarebytes window and that might enable you to see all of the controls (you should be able to maximize it by holding the SHIFT key and right-clicking on the Malwarebytes window's icon in your taskbar and selecting Maximize).
Thanks for the speedy reply. When I did the upgrade, I did it without my backup Win 7 in the computer. So basically, the upgrade did not install a licensed version of MWB. I imagine many users will have this problem when doing a Win 7 upgrade. Right now, the W10 upgrade has also messed up my document files - There seem to be multiple versions of the same files in different places. That is not a MWB issue but I can only spend so much time at this. I am likely to just go back to using Win7. I may eventually have to do a clean Win10 install, but I suppose that will also likely create a MWB license issue.
Regarding the MWB screen size issue. I see that this now also occurs in Windows 7. It never used to. I will try the DPI etc, but that should not be necessary - everything else works normally. The screen doesn't fit and cannot be dragged from edges or corners to make smaller. Maximizing, if possible would only resulyt in more being cut off. This is a 1980x1080 laptop screen.

As recently as 2 weeks ago, I upgraded a Win7 computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It was an in place upgrade and everything went fine, Windows 10 was fully activated. The computer I worked on had Malwarebytes and I did not do anything to Malwarebytes during the upgrade. It was still installed after the upgrade and fully activated as well.
Today, I did an upgrade to Win10 from Win7 (not a clean install) I have the Premium lifetime version of MWB. MWB is there, but license is not activated. When I open MWB, the screen that comes up is too large - top and bottom are cut off. What I can see says that nothing is activated. My windows 7 backup is on same computer, but it is not running. I tried going back to it (dual booting) and MWB is functioning there.
How do I get MWB to be functional on Win10?

Having same problem, Mainly Dropbox, but did also see svchost Port 17500

In doing a search I found someone else had almost the identical problem:
http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=40893
But he was fortunate that by going back to last known good configuration in Safe Mode, his system booted. Mine will not.
I should mention that I had not done anything but run Malware on this computer this morning. Problem occurred whn asked to reboot. Prior to that it had booted normally.
Well I tries to do a W2K repair with an SP4 update CD. Wewll it overwrote my previous installation completely along with all my files & data. Luckily I have thse backed up.
But, I guess I won't be trying Malware again - Just not worth the risk of having the same thing happen again

On my desktop computer that runs Windows 2000 Professional (I have some old applications that need it!), I decided to install and run Malwarebytes. (mbam).
It installed and then ran finding one trojan. It asked if I wanted it fixed and I said yes. Trojan was associated with freezip.exe.
mbam_log_2011_01_01__10_00_55_.txt
But now when I attempt to boot, I get a BSOD containing:
STOP 0x00000CE (0xEB6A30BC, 0x000000, 0xEB6A30BC, 0x000000)
DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS
This driver may be at fault :VIAAGP1.SYS
** Address: EB6A30BC base at EB6A0000, Datestamp 00000000 - viaagp1.sys
** Address: EB6A30BC base at EB6A0000, Datestamp 00000000 - viaagp1.sys
etc.
This happens well into the W2K splash screen and does it even if I try and boot into safe mode, regardless of which option I choose.
This machine has two drives so I can choose to boot XP off other drive from BIOS and that is how I accessed the above attachment. No problems booting XP and current hardware and BIOS settings.
Any suggestions on how to recover W2K?
Having had this problem, I am hesitant to install Malwarebytes on XP or my laptop.

Today whenever I have had numerous pop-ups saying a site is blocked.
Not sure if all the same (I will check) but it says Client.I.googl.com with IP 142.256.46.78
Is Google tracking what I am doing?
