  1. All OK now - thanks for the swift response. John
  2. I believe this to be a false positive. I've submitted the file to Virustotal and none of the products detected any malware. The file is part of the Windows 7 64-bit setup for the CanoScan 4200F Scanning Guide. Regards John Greener mbam-log-2011-11-10 (08-40-31).txt 4200Fscanningguide-e.rar
  3. That was quick Many thanks and a Happy New Year. John
  4. Hi there Malwarebytes found 4 problems: all are copies of the same file, which is the executable produced by Visual Basic 2005 for a very simple example program WindowsApplication1 which I wrote in April 2006 and haven't touched since. I checked a backup I wrote to DVD in September 2008 and the same problems were found. Since that time the files have been scanned many times with Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, and AVG (which I used until 2 October 2009). None of those scans found anything wrong, so it seems very likely that this is a false positive. I've re-run the scan using the command line /developer flag as instructed and the log file is attached. Also attached is WindowsApplication1.rar which contains the entire VB 2005 project, including the 4 instances of the .exe file which were detected.
