  1. Chris, The redirects have completely stopped. I wanted to wait a little bit before providing you with this update just to be 100% sure. Is it possible that an updated McAfee signature file finally found & eliminated the virus that was causing me all the problems? Bottom line - it looks like my computer is back to normal and I greatly appreciate the time you invested to try and help me find the root cause. Thanks!!! Brian
  2. Chris, Good news, I was able to run ComboFix in Safe Mode. I've attached report. Hopefully it points in the right direction. Thanks for all your help. Brian log.txt
  3. Chris, Yes, it's still happening. The virus must be well hidden. A possible clue, I loaded Firefox thinking I could get away from the redirects but it's happening there as well. Possibly hidden somewhere in the bookmarks that I transferred from IE8 to Firefox. I know a Beta's available for IE9. Do you think if I upgraded from IE8 to IE9 that the virus would remain? Brian

  5. Chris, Sorry for the delay in circling back with you, things have been crazy around the holidays. Attached is the log file you requested. Thanks again for all your help. Brian TDSSKiller.2.4.12.0_07.01.2011_23.16.32_log.txt
  6. Chris, I followed your instructions exactly but the redirects continue. Just to be sure I temporarily removed my Linksys router from my configuration and connected directly to my DSL modem but the redirects still happened. I'm still very open to suggestions. Thanks for all your help. Brian
  7. Chris, Yes, Cisco/Linksys WRT300N Router/Access Point. Brian
  8. Chris, I followed your instructions (cut/paste the run command) but I get the same error. ComboFix after completing stage 50 forces a re-start on my machine before it tries to generate the report. I've got my FW/AV shut off but I wonder if other programs which auto start as part of my boot up process are interfering with the tool. Is there possibly another tool similar to ComboFix that we can try using to see if we have better luck? Thanks for all your help. Brian
  9. I ran ComboFix but when it came time to prepare the report the application failed. I got a message indicating "PEC.cfxxe has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly". Any thoughts on what's gone wrong with this tool? Thanks for all your help. Brian
  10. I keep getting unwanted "redirects" for both IE8 & FireFox despite using Malwarebytes (DB Version 5409) & McAfee Anti Virus with the most current signature. Per the "what do I do now instructions" I'm pasting & attaching the requested log files. My ark.txt file is null, but I assume that's because the tool found no issues. I would greatly appreciate assistance with regards to next steps that can isolate & remove the hiddeen virus. Thanks!!!
