  1. The license for the free version says: An attorney explained to me that "commercial purpose" for software means making money by distributing it. That's why I thought it was OK. However, I don't want to go against the wishes of the publisher. Now that I know the publisher's wishes, I completely removed MBAM from my work computer. My personal PC has Windows XP, and it does not exhibit the same problem. I am getting a new PC soon, so I will look for the same issue. I hope my problem report and work-around are useful to the publisher and/or users.
  2. Chakotay2 and DJSINAL, Did you experience the same problem that I reported in this post? http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=71118
  3. I submitted the following problem for Support ticket #124492, where I was requested to install software from two new sites to log my configuration. I am uncomfortable doing this on my work PC. I wanted to post this to the forum to see if anyone else experienced the same problem. If anyone did, my work-around may be helpful. -------------------------------------------------------------- I installed MBAM v1.50.1 on the admin account of my Win7 x64 PC and successfully ran a scan. The next time I logged into my admin account, Explorer was hung and didn't show any menus or icons. I traced the problem to hanging on "c:\program files (x86)\malwarebytes' anti-malware\mbamgui.exe", which is autoexecuted at logon because it is in the "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" registry key. Using Alt-Ctrl-Del, I was able to log off the admin account and log into my standard/limited account. I worked around the problem by unchecking the registry key using Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx) on my standard account (entering my admin password at the UAC prompt). Since MBAM real-time protection is disabled, I see no reason why MBAM is autoexecuting anything at logon. This may be a separate or related bug.
