I honestly can't thank you enough for your help! You guys are amazing! is the windows firewall enough protection? So, if it was your computer infected like mine..would you be good to go or would you wipe it and do original restore? okay.. no space after backslash...got it uninstalled. do i need to redo my defogger thing? Other issue mail (mediacom) will not let me log in, it is telling me to enter the password but not logging on..though I am using it fine on this computer. Also other programs I used: keep or delete: atf cleaner TFC exe rootkitunhooker gmer Otherwise I think I am going okay? Was this a virus that we should wipe a computer and start over? running and I kindly noted it was at my own risk should it be doing what looks like an auto scan on stage 3 now..is that what the uninstall looks like?

I obviously did something wrong there, even though it popped up an uninstall log I thought. When I click on the icon, it starts to run, but does the same thing as before when it tells me antivirus is running. do I need to go back in to unclick the hidden files like I did to run it to now uninstall it since I rebooted? I apologize! would that have stopped defogger from doing a reboot also?

I am not sure it uninstalled correctly .. when I click on the icon to delete it , it says it is a read only file. LOL I am only this stupid when it comes to computers I promise!

uninstalled combofix and re-enabled defogger, got the ok and finish but it did not ask me to reboot. The screen is still popped up: defogger blah blah blah...disable re-enable. should I close the program and manually reboot?

I am sorry, I was so excited to finally be making progress, I forgot to answer how the computer is running. At the moment, after running the rkill at startup, the computer seems to be running better. I have not been redirected from google and have not had the generic host process for win32. I am still concerned I have a backdoor virus so have had this computer disconnected from the internet most of the time. But google at least works. Saturday our son clicked on a link on facebook which spammed my facebook account and redirects us from google. We also get a generic host process for win32 has encountered a problem and the puter becomes unresponsive. Intial scans with supraantispyware, malwarebytes and avira detected: koobface, trashgen, gen-nullo[short] and winlogon#taskman. TDSS found: rootkit.win32.TDSS.td14 HardDisk0 rkill found: cl.clean.0001 and system32\wuaclt.exe current scans come back clean. I downloaded combofix, but did not run it. When I first tried it told me: combofix has dected the following real time scanner to be active: antivirus AntiVir Desktop, eventhough I had it disabled. When I tried to uninstall combofix doing run combofix / install it told me the same thing. I am hoping you can help me with the next steps of this pain in the butt process!
