  1. Windows Key + X is my favorite thing ever for Windows 8. I love the New Start Screen, and just clicking windows key and typing the app I want is what I use. Then I dock stuff into the Start Menu for things I can just quickly launch. Then shutdown is just simply Windows Key + I, then a click.

I'm very much in favor of Windows 8. I hope they can disable this new button...

  2. Hello MikeRepairsComputers,

We do take ownership of folders prior to restoring the files when running our fix. It seems like something has gone wrong within the system.

Please contact our support helpdesk so that they can provide alternate fixes for the issue you are experiencing.

    Thank you.

  3. I did the fix, but I am still having issues with itunes, winamp, windows media player and steam as well as Internet Explorer 9 will not play videos or load pages all the way. I did the fix a couple of times to see if it would make a difference, but it has not. I had been talking to someone in customer service, but they have not replied back to me in 2 days.

    Hello Jackwnoe,

Do you have a errors.txt file after running the fix batch file? If so can you copy/paste the contents in your next reply?

    Thank you.

  4. Is there anyway to retrieve dll's out of quarantine for itunes and winamp. My system wont run either because of missing dll's. Would I be safer to go and download them from somewhere else and put them in the respective folders or should I get them out of quarantine.

Also, my Internet Explorer no longer plays vids and some pages dont load since all this happened. However, my mozilla works fine. Should I just reinstall IE? Do you think that would fix it.

    Hello Jackwnoe,

The restore all button within MBAM will restore the files to their proper locations, which includes those files for itunes and winamp. IF you are unable to boot into windows please boot into safe mode with networking and run the fix file.

IF you have any other questions please create a new topic describing your issue so that you can get 1 on 1 assistance from a forum helper or staff.

    Thank you.

  5. I was able to catch Malwarebytes before in quarantined more than 25 files. I was able to restore the files and avoid real trouble. Fortunately, my computer seems to be running fine. However, after running all of the required fixes and updates, Malwarebytes is still showing those 25 files in quarantine. I have verified that the Malwarebytes quarantine folder is empty and also that all 25 files are back in their original locations.

How do I get Malwarebytes to stop showing those 25 files in quarantine.

    Hello kaschacht,

Another way to clear the Quarantine list within MBAM is to manually delete the files within MBAM's quarantine folder. This is to be done while knowing full well the files have already been restored to their original location.

    Thank you.

  6. Pcooper21,

After you ran the fix tool. It may have copies of files already restored from quarantine. You can manually check the file locations and ensure the quarantined file exists in the directory that it states while in the quarantine tab within Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

    Thank you.

  7. I disagree. I downloaded the .bat file and it will not run.

I get "Windows cannot find 'd:\mbam\RunThis.bat'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again. If I go to a standard command prompt (as it wont allow me to an admin one) I can run "fixtool.exe /quarantine -restore all"

It does alot of disk activity, but system is still cobbled all up.

I cannot run second part, the rules.exe as it says "ShellExecuteEx failed; code 2. The system cannot find the file specified"

still cannot install anything, and do not want to reboot...too afraid...

    HELP!!

    Hello Stealth111,

Do you have Protection Module still enabled? Did you boot into Safe mode? What OS are you using?

    Thank you.

  8. updatehelp,

    Please post an mbam-check log:

    Create an mbam-check log:

    • Download mbam-check.exe from here and save it to your desktop
    • Double-click on mbam-check.exe to run it, it should then open a log file
    • Please attach the CheckResults.txt file which should now be located on your desktop to your next reply

    Thank you.
