  1. Thanks for replying to me. I'm not sure if the problem with my PC is the virus anymore, but I still have quite a few problems since the virus attacked. I just explained my problems in more detail in my next post, and hope that I get a useful response from someone nice enough to read the whole long post to help me.
  2. Hi, I'm new here so I'm not to sure how or where to ask about my problems. I recently introduced myself and spoke a little about my problem, but I'll describe some more and I'd really be grateful if somebody's willing and eventually able to solve my problem. I'm currently using my laptop to go on the forums, and my problem is in my PC. Here's a little history of my problem: It all started when I got infected by the Security Tools virus. I was haunted by constant popups, false infection warnings, and the inability to open my antivirus programs. I managed to trace the Security Tools shortcut on my desktop back to the [.EXE] file, which I believed to be the source of the virus, but I couldn't delete because it was a program in progress. So I restarted my PC and logged in to another account, retraced the file, and deleted it. Afterwards, I was able to use my antivirus programs again (except for Malwarebytes), and I used some of the ones recommended for Security Tools and fixed a few problems that I thought were leftovers of the virus. I thought my virus problem was coming to an end, but now I have several other problems that I can't solve. Logging into the account and a few apps here and there have been pretty slow and glitchy at first. But the biggest problem is with the internet. Somtimes I could Google search something, and when I try to open some webpages (including ones I know I can trust), I end up being led to a completely unrelated website. And sometimes the internet completely fails on me, and I can't use it at all. And another problem that's been bothering since the virus is that I still cannot open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware program, neither through the shortcut nor directly through the app. I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it, but that doesn't work either. Here are some of my observations and attempts: My PC uses wireless internet. Normally, when there weren't any problems with the computer, the internet icon on the taskbar looks like [image 01]. After I seemingly deleted the virus file, on the occasions when the internet somewhat worked, the icon looked like [image 02]. And sometimes I get [image 03], the icon disappears from the taskbar, and I can't use the internet at all. I tried going into [Control Panel] > [Network Connections], but there is nothing in there! I also tried system restore, but that didn't fix the problem either. I tried using various antivirus programs that were recommended for Security Tools, including, Avira AntiVir, Spybot, and Spyware Doctor, and currently, they don't detect any virus infections anymore. But for some reason, I haven't been able to use Malwarebytes at all throughout this ordeal. So, that's pretty much my problem: When I got the Security Tools virus, and traced its desktop shortcut back to the file it's supposed to open, and deleted it. I used some antivirus programs to delete some bad files. Currently, my problem is that my PC and some apps start out slow and glitchy, and the internet doesn't work right, or at all. I don't really know if it's a virus that's the problem anymore, or some damages that were made during the virus problem. My antivirus programs currently detect nothing. And I still wonder why I still can't open Malwarebytes at all. I'm providing my Hijackthis log if somebody might ask for it. Sorry for the long read. But if it's not too complicated for some of you, I hope that some of you can make a few suggestions for me. -- My PC used Windows XP hijackthis.log
  3. Hi. I'm a new guy here, and I wouldn't be coming here unless I'm an expert who can help others (way too dumb for that), or I have virus problems and need desperate help (ding ding ding!). Anyways, I got some problems that start with "Security Tools", and I'll post them in a moment. For now though, I'll just introduce myself, and I'm currently awaiting a few scans to be completed. I'm pretty sure some of you have already resolved the Security Tools problem and probably think you can help me, but I've been looking up many webpages and discussions that have been pointing me to different antivirus programs, including Malwarebytes, and I'm still having all sorts of problems. My Malwarebytes cannot open at all, not even after removing and reinstalling it. And I'm currently attempting a few other recommended programs. And I think my problems are beyond the Security Tools virus now. I'm having registry errors and other performance problems beyond popups and fake warnings. But I'll get to my symptoms when I make my post. Anyways, just like to say that I'm new here, and Malwarebytes has saved me from the AV Security Suite before, and I hope it can still help save me from Security Tools. I hope that some of you will have the patience to hear me out and try to help me.
