  2. This has happened 3 time in last day (24 hrs.). An error message appears after Microsoft Edge is shut down informing me that there is a problem within the operating system and, in order to keep my system from being harmed further I need to contact a service representative at phone # such-and-such to resolve the issue. I am further warned not to shut off my computer or there may be dire results - loss of data, birthdays, etc. So, do I need to worry or am I being scammed? Scan results are below. 6. I do have a question of sorts. This afternoon when I tried bringing up my wifi I couldn't connect to the internet immediately. I got a "you are not connected ..." error message. I clicked on the box that offered help in troubleshooting wireless connectivity issues and after a few minutes a box appeared to inform me that my IP address was not valid and that my connectivity was "limited.". I clicked to close the window, the error message disappeared and the internet popped open. Does anyone on your end know how my IP address could have changed? And what does it mean "my connectivity is limited

  9. It started with the following error message when I brought up my email: "Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following. Email is too large. Limit size to less than 20MB," I pressed "OK" and went on about my business, and the message popped up again. I pressed "OK" again, and after a few minutes, there it was again. We played this game for a while until I grew tired of it and decided to do a scan with the Malwarebytes. It found that I had 11 PUPs in the system (These are of the Tweakbit variety). I said "Remove them." Malwarebytes said "Fine, now lets do a restart which I promptly did. B

  11. OK, I've downloaded the FarBar software and it is on my desktop, but when I double click to Run I get the following message: Windows Smartscreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting ... Any suggestions? Regards, Rudy
  12. Other devices using this wifi router are my wife's laptop, a desk PC that is older and hard wired in, two smart" televisions, and a Roku device. I think that is everything. Everything else appears to be working properly. (At least I haven't heard my wife scream because Netflix was down.) However, I am a bit more optimistic this morning. I went home last night and fired the laptop up. It connected to the router without a problem. I accessed my email, and except for a couple of episodes when the dreaded "Limited" message would appear, boot me off the internet thus blocking the outgoing mail, a
  13. Still shows the "limited" message appearing below the wireless icon. The machine seems to be running fine otherwise.
  14. OK, TwoHeadedEagle. I have decided against McAfee and opted to stay with Avast as my choice for antivirus protection.
  15. Her are results of scans by Farbar Recovery Tool. Portions appeared to run twice. I have tried to send all reports. FRST.txt Addition.txt FRST-2.txt Addition-2.txt
