  1. I just downloaded the free version on windows 7 and 8 and I am so far very impressed with this program, I will continue to test and if all goes well I will tell all my clients about it and also purchasing the pro including myself

  2. I have downloaded and installed manually, but this is the first time I ever saw it not ask for an upgrade on the free or the paid version.

I have over 100 clients on Malwarebytes- free or paid and none of the free have seen it ask for an upgrade as of yet

The paid ones, some have, some have not as of yet

  3. funny as i typed this one of my clients called me and said when he turned on his machine, malwarebytes Pro asked for an upgrade

none of the free ones as of yet are asking

I want to see if they do, I have lots on the free one and a whole bunch on the paid one so i want to see if malwaerbytes eventually asks otherwise I will just download the free one or tell them to download it if the program does not ask for it, even though it should

  4. As a business you would have to renew the license every year, this does not mean you get new keys to enter or you have to reinstall the software.

I am only a Trusted Advisor and I am not on the Malwarebytes staff. Its best if you fill out the form mentioned below to get a concrete answer from the Malwarebytes Sales team.

All corporate and non-profit sales inquiries can be handled by contacting our corporate sales offices. Our sales team is working hard to respond to all inquiries received as quickly as possible.

Responses that include complete contact information (phone, email, company, address, etc) via our corporate webform below are prioritized:

Fill out the Web Form located Right Here

Please add the domains malwarebytes.org and salesforce.com to any spam filters or junk mail exclusion features in your email client to assure our replies get to you.

    Thank you very much!

I just did after I typed this- hopefully they will get back to me

  5. I have a client that has 6 computers and wants to get one license for all 6. This is a small business. Does this mean because he is purchasing a license number for all 6 computers he has to redue this next year? If so this is not very fair. If the home user purchases pro and is purchasing it for one computer how come he gets lifetime updates when a business is purchasing for 5 more computers and has to pay to renew it every year?

  6. Robinb, are your mbam issues caused with paid and/or free versions of mbam?

Only AVG Internet Security like I mentioned when i first posted this

Also, did you JUST barely update from 8.0 to 8.5? Just curious because the transition from 8.0 to 8.5 happened somewhere between March and April I believe, if you are just updating then that means in the meantime the systems in question were very behind on updates from AVG!

No these computers were updated when 8.5 just came out and all virus databases are up to date

I agree with AdvancedSetup about the firewall, what kind of a firewall deletes files? Blocks, sure. But deletes? eh??

and if you see my last post you will see it has nothing to do with the firewall, it has to do with the AIP because only the internet security has AIP wether you install the firewall or not

  7. I'm honestly at a loss then, unless they do indeed push out a different DB for the two versions or there are different settings on the various users' systems.

this is where the problem is, it is in the identity protection database as you see below- this just came in via email from AVG, I just asked them which new data version it would be and when they answer me i will post it here

Unfortunately, the current AVG Identity Protection database version

may detect the mentioned virus on some legitimate applications. We can

confirm that it is a false alarm. We would like to inform you that the

false positive will be removed in the next database update.

Please update your AVG and check the situation again.

  8. The free edition doesnt include the avg's firewall. Its the firewall that flagged it and deleted it. Since I enabled windows firewall and turned off AVG's firewall it hasnt happend since

    not exactly true

2 of my clients have AVG internet Security without the firewall installed and both have the problem

the rest have the firewall installed and have the problem

It is not just the firewall that is causing the problem otherwise those 2 that the firewall is not installed would not have had this happen to them

  9. I noticed when it did its upgrade to a new version what AVG popped up is mbamsetup.

where does file come from within the program so i can exclude this too

because when you go to download it from the internet it is similar to that file and AVG was stopping that file from being downloaded.

I can download it now with no AVG threat popping up but not when it upgrades the program

    robin

i looked in AVG and it shows it here

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam-setup.exe

I just added that one too

  10. Your Welcome! You should take a look at Post # 14 before you log out... regards...

ok i only have what you pasted here in the exceptions now

    but

I double clicked the icon malwarebytes and it opened fine but when it installed a newer version- AVG still came up telling me it was a threat. This time when i allowed it- it did not crash the program

but this means it is still not 100% fixed

The 3 computers that had the problem of avg uninstalling the program- I was able to now download it and reinstall with no problems.

The 2 computers that are also running AVG Internet Security, i did the Add List exceptions and rebooted. I double clicked the icons and the program opened fine.

But: when i went to do an upgrade because it said it needed to go to a new version, AVG again popped up saying it was a threat- this time i clicked -Allow_ and it continued to install the upgrade, which goes to show it is not entirely fixed. Something must be overwritten or added when the program upgrades that is not in the exception list now

I sent an email off to avg to show them what you told me to do and also told them even with an upgrade AVG is still saying it is a threat and told them they need to fix this because not everyone comes here for answers.

  11. ooops i read it wrong- i tried to do it in exceptions not the add list

I am fixing it now and going to see if this works

    robin

ok i did this on both computers

the only thing that happened is when malwarebyte needed an upgrade on one computer AVG still came up with a warning but i clicked allow and it allowed it through

    but so far so good

i just hope those who do not come here-and sees how to fix it avg figures out and puts a new patch to fix this problem

I am going to put the exception on the other 2 computers now

    thanks for the help

  12. Hi! If your a Corporate user: please send an email off to corporate@malwarebytes.org you will get a reply faster.

With the new version, all I have on AVG is as follows:

You first need to report it to AVG, then add our files to the exclusion list:

Right-click the AVG icon in the system tray.

On the shortcut menuselectLaunch Control Center.

Click the 'Tools' tab, select Advanced settings...'

    Scroll down or select 'Exceptions'

Click 'Add List' and copy and paste the following list of files:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

    C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

    C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

    C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

    Click OK 3 times.

    Reboot your PC.

I hope this helps, please report back when you can... regards...

In AVG internet security you can only add folders- not individual files

I had to add the whole path

like in drivers- I had to include the whole folder

and exceptions is in the residential shield

  13. @ robinb

Is this something that's only happening today, or when did it start? I'm curious to know because I also use the AVG internet security and I have a paid version of Malwarebytes as well and I haven't gotten any notifications from AVG, at least not yet.

Also, definitely follow yardbirds instructions

To anyone else reading this who knows AVG:

Do you know where the exclusions area/list is located? I have not been able to find it yet so I haven't added mbam to the exclusions list yet but I know that I probably should do so...

this started happening yesterday after the last update

AVG said they are working on it

I am going on one of my clients computers and add the excemptions now and see what happens

i will let you know but i really would like avg to correct this problem
