  1. MrC - thank you so much for your help. There were no encrypted files and I did install the cryptolock prevention tool. You are the best!!!!
  2. I removed the 2 files listed above. I'm assuming those should also be permanently deleted from the recycle bin? Also - the files I'm looking for - sometimes I can't see the files, other times, I can see the files, but I cannot open them because Open Office will not open. Also my friend uses the AOL Desktop software and it has stopped working. Is it possible that some of these files (related to Open Office and AOL) got encrypted and this is why I cannot open them? Also, last week, before we did the removal her grandson was unable to do a remote desktop connection to help her. Once I run ListCriLock (which I won't be able to do until Saturday when I see her again), then can I restore those files from Mosy? I was thinking of installing Mosy Sync on her good PC (Windows 8) and restoring the files from a date prior to when she was having problems and then restore the files from Mosy. I've checked the previous versions on a couple of them and there are no previous versions. Do you recommend the CrytoPrevent tool to be installed to prevent this from happening again? She is about to pull her hair out - I'm just getting grey hair. I really appreciate all of your help and will let you know how things go on Saturday, since she isn't back 100%!!!
  3. Combofix log attached. Other requested logs previously posted. Let me know what I should do to restore missing files. They are backed up on Mosy. Many, many thanks Combofix.txt
  4. Mr Charlie I'll post the Combofix log later this a.m. We have been unable to open docs in word and files are missing. Is there something I need to check in order to see the files in the various folders?
  5. I've attempted to run Combo Fix in safe mode. When it tries to back up the registry I get several errors that access is denied to various files. (i.e. c:\windows\erdnt\Hiv-backup\BCD ! Continue with the next file? [RegCreateKeyEx: 5 - Access is denied ] I've seen the screen shots and it never goes into the scanning process. What now?
  6. If I'm no 100% everything is disable, if I run combfix in safe mode - then I won't hurt the PC?
  7. I've attached the two log files. I've downloaded and installed combofix, but when I try to run it is telling me that Microsoft Security Essentials is still running. Ive disabled the following: Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, Auto Update but Combofix says it is still running and I don't want it to damage this pc as it's not mine. Any suggestions?? Also there is no icon in the sys tray for Microsoft Security Center. Fixlog.txt TDSSKiller.3.0.0.41_07.11.2014_09.04.33_log.txt
  8. Mr.Charlie - thanks for this info. I'll try and run these later this week, or it might not be until Saturday, so don't close out this ticket.
  9. I have Windows 7, 64 bit laptop. Two weeks ago it started acting strangely - I could hear what sounded like a soap opera and other ads playing in the back ground, but couldn't see any programs running. I kept getting the blue screen of death. So I started up in Safe Mode and ran Malwarebytes and it caught about 26 things. The voices stopped, but the PC is crawling and taking forever to open files and some of my files are missing - not in the folders where they usually are located. So I'm attaching the results of the frst scan. I ran a MB scan last Sat. in safe mode. Today I ran a scan in MB not in safe mode. When I went to look at the log scan nothing showed up, even though numerous things were in the quarantine. So I ran another scan in Safe Mode - but nothing new showed up. Really weird that the 1st scan this a.m. did not show the scan results. Could it be that the Trojan blocked the saving of the scan?? Many, many thanks in advance. 10. I have posted previously but was slow getting back and the topic was locked. A PC Running 32 bit Windows 7, SP 1 - when the PC is idle for a while I may come back and find a random file (word or word perfect) open on my PC, or a random email. Below are the 3 log files I was suppose to attach. Thanks FRST.txt Addition.txt CheckResults.txt
  11. I thought it was just my imagination, but when I leave by PC for 15 minutes or longer and come back, if I left Word open, then a random file of mine will be open; it can be any file depending but it does not have to be from a program that I left running; Usually it will be emails or a word processing file that will be open on my PC. Browsing does not appear to be affected. Could this be malware?
  12. Georgi: Here are the 2 log reports. Thanks, Jennifer Fixlog 9-30-13.txt 09302013_182325.log
  13. Georgi: I'm attaching the following files: Fixlog, FRST and the JavaRa log. I do have a question - We have AVG Internet Security Business Edition - it was installed in 2011, but we use the AVG Admin Console to make sure the latest version of AVG is running. Wouldn't that be the same thing as the 2014 version, since we are paying them the license fees, etc.? Thanks - let me know if I need to do anything else. I did re-enable the AntiVirus - I forgot to do that after I ran the last batch of scans, etc. Jen Fixlog.txt FRST.txt JavaRa-9-26-2013.log
  14. Here are the log files that you wanted: Thanks, Jen ESET Threats Found.txt SystemLook.txt checkup.txt
  15. Ran program and restarted. Attached is fss log. Thanks, Jen FSS.txt
