  1. Thank you so much for looking at my problem Ron, I've run the dds file you asked & the results of the log file are below. By the way, there are so many errors in the Event Viewer to list but some are VDS Basic Provider, CVH, Volume Shadow Service & countless others, loads of timeout warnings, thought I'd just mention it in case it helps you at all. Thanks again, very much appreciated

  2. I'm at my wits end, I updated Java to 7.05 a week ago & it just hung in firefox & was slow in IE, so I decided to uninstall it & go back to 6.33. Other than the java problem, at that point the computer was running fine. I uninstalled 7.05 & the immediate reboot had my processor chugging & cranking along at a snail's pace, stratup for me is normally 1½ minutes, now it's 7½. I then ran JavaRA to clear any previous entries form the registry, still no faster, installed Java 6.33, still the same. It's terribly slow, Excel takes 2 min 10 sec to load when it is usually less than 10 sec. So I ran a virus check, all clean, also MBAM, clean also so I decided on a system restore. I've tried 4 now at various stages back to when the PC was running normally but that didn't solve it. There is plenty of spare disk space, I've have run CCleaner and the registry fix, no joy. Any suggestions what else I can try please? Not keen on a complete reinstall of Windows obviously. Checked Device Manager as well, no red crosses. Thanks for any help

  3. I have Online Armor - asked to allow several changes to files (I should have set OA to learn mode first).

Also Windows Defender asked me to send information on the following:-

    c:\program files\Malwarebytes\mbambgui.exe

    c:\windows\system32\drivers\MBAMSwissArmy.sys

I was not requested to reboot. All seems ok

    Geoff
