  1. Also, as an update - I seem to be able to reach the update website, by typing Https://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and https://update.microsoft.com/windows, but when it loads, the site says there was an error. I checks the Background Intelligent Transfer service and it was off, I tried turning the service on, but still the same error occured. Clicking the windows update shortcut in start menu takes me to a Page Cannot be Displayed page...the url it directs to is http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
  2. Hi, I work at a computer repair shop, where if crapcleaner, rkill - > malwarebytes, superantispyware, and hijack this can't seem to solve a problem, then we tend to reload the machine. The problem is that lately we've been seeing a recurring problem with many machines, and some of them are quite tedious to back up and restore once a reload has been done. Picky Customers persay. After doing our usual scan routine, with the tools, and in the order, that i listed above, I typically have to go into internet connections>lan settings>de check the use a proxy server box and place a check in the automatically obtain ip address box, to even surf the web. The big problem is that these machines will not go to the microsoft or windows update sites. We've tried deleting the host files, using the steps as listed here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...48153&st=40 by gringo_pr , and with no success. These machines usually have Desktop Security 2010, or Personal Antispyware, or a similar infection. Malwarebytes tends to remove the bulk of the infection, but as I mentioned before the machines are left unable to contact microsoft or windows updates. Any help would be much appreciated! thx
