Nothing on the pc loads or works.

You might want to try doing this. I've done this before, and it has saved my skin. Just follow the "Instructions". Last Known Good Configuration. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307852 When you first Start-Up, "Tap the F8 Key until you get a Menu. This article describes how to use the Last Known Good Configuration feature in Windows XP. The Last Known Good Configuration feature is a recovery option that you can use to start your computer by using the most recent settings that worked. The Last Known Good Configuration feature restores registry information and driver settings that were in effect the last time the computer started successfully. Use the Last Known Good Configuration feature when you cannot start Windows XP after you make a change to your computer, or when you suspect that a change that you just made may cause a problem. For example, you can use this feature if you cannot start Windows XP after you install a new driver for your video adapter, or if you installed an incorrect driver and have not yet restarted Good luck. I'm running Win XP Home SP2 --- No Customization of the Windows Directory. I have the same "False Posative". I should Point out that I'm pretty certain that this is a False Posative. The File in question, is in the C:\WINDOWS Directory. It's File-name is Setup1.exe. and in it's Properties, It's listed as a Microsoft File [Visual Basic 6.0 Setup Toolkit]. I put it in my Ignore List. Ken:

Terminate Internet Explorer during removal
Hank52 replied to mynorgeek's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Before you mentioned it, I never gave it a second thought. I supposed the Developers always assumed Users would Shut Down Internet Explorer before running a Scan, but gave the Users the Option to (Put a Check in the Box) to Shut it down in case they forgot. I have to agree with you though. It should have a Check-mark in the Box by Default. I guess the Developers think that everybody is as Smart as they are. NOT!! Edit: Sorry Mr. Administrator, (Bruce). You Posted a few Seconds before me. No Offence intended. Ken: -

Terminate Internet Explorer during removal
Hank52 replied to mynorgeek's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Sure there is, although I "Always" Shut-Down any Running Programs when doing a Scan. It's there to Protect Absent Minded people from Running a Scan and finding something Either in Internet Explorer or Attached to it when Explorer is Running. This is Probably not the Exact Answer, but I think you get the Gist of what I'm getting at. If Malwarebytes Finds something, and you decide to "Remove" it. You could Break Internet Explorer, hence, a Repair Install might be needed. Ken: -
You can Download it "Here". Just Download it to your Desktop, or Download Folder and Run (Double-Click) it. http://malwarebytes.gt500.org/database.jsp Edit: See this Thread about "Trojan Agent". http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5167 Ken:

I'm not sure that the updates are working
Hank52 replied to futons1's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Forgive me. I just Cherry Picked a Random Program because of it's Size, - (550 KB.) I just used this as a Speedtest to see how long the Progress would show before it Finished Downloading. I hope you didn't think I Installed it. The Malwarebytes File is usually Double the Size. I've never seen a File Download, (Update) as fast as this, .. "Ever". Sorry for the confusion. Ken: -

That's the very reason I Posted this. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=6688 I just Downloaded a Program, 550 KB. Not even sure what it was, and it took at least 6 Seconds. Slow enough to see the Progress Bar. I still find it Hard to Believe, that I can Download a 1000 KB. File and Update the Program in the Blink of an eye. Even if you have "Faster" Servers. The onlything that Downloads that fast is a 10 KB. File. Ken: -
Manual Update Seems To Fast

I wish the Distributor of Avira would get their Act together and get a faster System. Sometimes it takes forever to Update the Program. Ken: -
Manual Update Seems To Fast
Hank52 replied to Hank52's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Thanks for your responses. I just tried to Update the Second Computer that I mentioned in my previous Post. This time I used the Alternate Mirror Site, (SecurityWonks.net). It Updated just fine, and everything seems to be fine now. Maybe you should consider going back to the "Slower Servers". Thanks again. Edit: I never thought I'd ever hear myself saying that somethings to fast on the Internet. Ken:
