Another note: As mentioned above, the Desktop Gadgets were wiped out after running net_replacement.bat and rebooting, but I successfully updated the Malwarebytes database and ran a scan (using the free trial version). After clicking "Apply Actions" to quarantine some objects that were found, the "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Has Stopped Working" window popped-up and the program closed. I rebooted again, and this time the Desktop Gadgets reappeared. I re-activated my Malewarebytes Premium service and re-ran another Malwarebytes scan which detected four folders which I quarantined with the "Apply Actions" button and once again got "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Has Stopped Working".
