  1. Other people have mentioned that disabling the terminal services greatly expedites the shut down process. The Terminal Services are used for remote assistance, remote desktop, and fast user switching. If you do not use any of these features, then the Terminal Services can be safely disabled. You can access the services console by entering the SERVICES.MSC command at the Run prompt.
  2. While AdvancedSetup returns, please try the steps below and let us know if this fixes your issue:

For Starters..... Your Term Service is Disabled

    Please do the following.

Click on START and type in CMD.EXE and when it shows on the menu right click over it and choose "Run as administrator"

Then type in or copy/paste the following and then press the Enter key on the keyboard.

    sc config termservice start= demand

Then restart the computer and see if you're able to enable the protection module now.

    Thanks

    hi

    Thanks for the extra input

this did not solve the problem

  3. The other issue with that is that there isn't always a domain name being blocked. Many of the IP's that we block are servers for botnets, which have no domain names/URL's, only IP addresses, and listing a complete list of URL's on a single IP address that are malicious would also be out of the question, as more often than not, there are many. We also block some entire IP ranges, which can contain many many domain names.

just displaying one domain name would help

i never know whether to unblock the domain number...or if it is a bad site how to reblock it..... i tend to remember 'words' rather than 'numbers' ..

having a name to understand would really help

  4. The website blocking mechanism blocks IP addresses, not domain names (URL's), that's why you're seeing a string of numbers. Those numbers are the IP address of the site that was blocked. We do this for several reasons, but primarily because malicious websites will frequently change/randomize their domain names, meaning if we used www.badsite.com to block that website, they might start using www.badsite1.com, www.badsite2.com etc. to get around the block, even though all of those websites reside on the same IP address.

    i had an idea

    What about

have the binary but next to it have.......

    5.6.56.56.56 (the-website-name.com)

    that way everyone happy

    machines and humans

    Its a feature request :)

  5. Why are blocked sites displayed in binary?

    11.111.333.44444 not www.useful.com

    screenshot560m.jpg

It seems ridiculous that this system is still used?

    can we have english FFS

    ---------

I've took the liberty of translating this EXACT message to binary just in case that's your thing

really i have using an online binary translator.

    ok mr setup

    here goes

I asked about "the goofy pop up" that happens every time when i launch the program on vista

    you said.................

Because your AV is installed and being run as the system account which does not provide user by user control which we do.

With the paid version though you can install and set it up so that the System account runs it with a scheduler and do updates and scans silently.

which has nothing to do with the question................really...........jees Louise I've made the purchase.....so take the sales hat off for a minute.

so are you guys fixing the schedule? I might post on Wilders to see if anyone else has had the problem

  7. Because your AV is installed and being run as the system account which does not provide user by user control which we do.

    hi thanks

i have 2 copies of the paid version.

    THE SCHEDULER NEVER WORKS PROPERLY

    ----------I'm not the only one-----------

    Its really annoying

    i paid for RESIDENT protection

but have to check to see if it is up to date all the time

    pretty rubbish

  8. back to "blood out of a stone" http://www.usingenglish.com/reference/idio...of+a+stone.html

the whole "buy MWBAM and get no sensible support" is starting to suck

    OK here goes........I'll try again

I've done it multiple choice using some of the answers you guys have given me

I've probably spent more time posting an emailing to get these tiny bits of information clarified than it would have took MB to write a brief description of the features. ie an up to date MANUAL!! :):):)

    anyway on with the test

    Question 1

What does the run if missed setting do?

    is it A

The 'Recover if missed' sets a time to get the update after a start up

    from Tom Mercado

    or B

If the setting is set to process missed updates then it has by how many hours. If it was off at 5 when it was supposed to look but you have it set to 1 hour and turn it back on at 7 then you are not within that hour so it should not go check for the update, if however you turned it back on at 5:50 and it was set to the 1 hour then it would go check for an update.

    Question 2

Terminate program when scan completes successfully (in the Scheduler)

    Does it A

run a scan on a schedule, then close MBAM window

    or B

run a scan on a schedule, then close MBAM resident protection completely.

    or C something else

already get sick of this :):):)

No we do not have more detailed information as it is pretty basic already.

good luck with selling to a broader market ......... like anyone who isnt a computer programmer!!

  9. Here is an example of how the run if missed should work.

You set it to run at 5:00PM but your computer was off at 5:00PM for that day. You turn it on at 6:00PM and if that setting is enabled it will now go look for that update that you missed running at 5:00PM

Tasks cannot be edited and must be removed and recreate a new one.

If there is anything else I can assist you with please let me know.

    Thank you.

    thanks for the info

    recover if missed

The 'Recover if missed' sets a time to get the update after a start up.

so i f i put it to 1 hour it will

    boot then

Wait one hour before doing the update

    if it was missed?

am i getting that bit right?

  10. No need to get testy when someone is only trying to help....

Is your computer actually off? on Hybernate? Suspended?

its really stressing me out, i get more stressed with the kind of "FORMAT THE WHOLE PC" kind of advice. Its just annoying.

I really should keep my words in good order. I do know that .....................but i didn't ask :

"whats the best way to completely uninstal 2 different versions of MBAM?"

    ---

tech support for MB ..well Tom Mercado.... is really sketchy......... its been like getting blood from a stone about a couple of new features

NO manual about the new features, the help page on the forum doesn't completely cover it

The 'Recover if missed' sets a time to get the update after a start up

    from Tom Mercado

    in answer to your question:

    both computers are off

so should the recover if missed be set to zero to update when i turn my PC or laptop on?

also is it me or is there no way of editing these scheduled UPDATES or scheduled scans?
