What if the item is loaded when MBAM is in the middle of its memory scanning phase?
-
Suppose an item has loaded into the memory after the scan has began, would that item be scanned in the scan?
-
Can MBAM require rebooting the computer after installation? If so, does it always tell if it needs one?I am asking so because suppose if I install MBAM and if it requires a reboot and after that I install another program which requires a reboot too, can there be a conflict?

Thanks so much for your quick responses, really appreciate it

I have seen on every fresh MBAM install that after the very first scan, the subsequent scans completes faster compared to the first one, any specific reason for that?
-
Does MBAM keeps record(hashes) of clean files when it encounters it for the first time and skips scanning the file if it finds the integrity of it is intact the next time it encounters it, something AVs like MSSE, EAM, Kaspersky do?

Hi!
If there is a database update in the middle of a scan is that database is going to be used right away in the scan or would that database be skipped for that particular scan?
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but I was asking about incoming IP blocks not outgoing.

Hi!
I have a couple of questions about MBAM's IP protection:
1.I do get a lot of incoming IP blocks, does malicious incoming IP blocking means there was an attempt to hack my PC?
2.If there was no MBAM installed does that means I would have been hacked despite my Firewall?
Thanks.

Hi!
Luckily I have never come across a Malware infection but I want to know if I come across one and both MBAM Pro and my AV detects it at the same time and asks for confirmation to quarantine the Malware, which one should I tell to quarantine the Malware ie. my AV or MBAM Pro?And should I tell the other pop-up to ignore the infection?
Thanks.

Yes, I was referring to maliciously injected DLLs.
Thanks for the answer

Can MBAM detect Malware which runs in the memory of other processes?
-
Hi,
I am thinking of running MBAM Pro alongside Emsisoft Anti-Malware but a bit skeptical cause EAM is in itself a 2 in 1 scanner.Would using EAM alongside MBAM Pro be overlapping?

Hi,
I have just upgraded to Win 7 x64 and want to know if MBAM Pro's realtime protection now works on x64 Windows cause I know it didn't work in x64 systems in the past.
Thanks.

No, just MSE. Some AV's do require it, especially more advanced ones that contain firewalls and/or HIPS components. MSE is a very basic antivirus. It has excellent detection rates but the way it actually functions is very simple in comparison to many AV's and its exclusion settings work very well when applied to a process or file. In fact, its simplicity is one of the reasons that I use it myself on several of my own systems.
What should be the exclusions when using MBAM alongside Prevx?
-
It never was necessary to exclude the dll's from Microsoft Security Essentials. The drivers aren't necessary either (though the FAQ indicates that they are).
Does that goes for every AV and not only MSE?
-
Spywareblaster is a passive form of protection and won't conflict with MSE or MBAM

As for your original question, I've used that exact combination (MSE+MBAM PRO+Windows Firewall) for some time now on 7 x64, 7 x86, Vista x64, Vista x86 and XP x86 and it's been excellent
.Just make certain you set proper exclusions to avoid performance issues:
Set Exclusions for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware in Microsoft Security Essentials:
- Open Microsoft Security Essentials and click on Settings at the top
- Click on Excluded processes on the left
- Click on the Add... button
- Click on the + next to your primary hard drive (usually C:)
- Click on the + next to Program Files (or Program Files (x86) if running a 64 bit version of Windows)
- Click on the + next to Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Click once on mbam.exe and click on OK
- Repeat steps 3-7 for the following files:
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
[*]Click on Save at the bottom and click Continue if prompted
[*]Close Microsoft Security Essentials
Set Exclusions for Microsoft Security Essentials in Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
- Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and click on the Ignore List tab
- Click the Add button on the lower left
- In the small browse window that opens, navigate to C:\Program Files and click once on Microsoft Security Essentials and click OK
- Close Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Is it no longer necessary to add MBAM dlls and drivers to the exclusion list as it was instructed in the past?
- Open Microsoft Security Essentials and click on Settings at the top
-
Thanks for the link.

Is zlib.dll no longer a component of MBAM?

Thanks, but I have scheduled the updates already.
Exploit detection feature ?

Does the new exploit detection feature detect exploits just like the traditional AVs or is it meant to work in a different way ?
