  1. My XP sp3 machine was infected by the fake XP security center virus a few days ago. I have McAfee Total Protection Service and it saw the virus loading, but didn't seem to do anything about it. After running a full system scan, McAfee seemed to remove the bulk of the issue, but .exe files were still not executable. I ran exefix and was able to get internet explorer and other software to run again. Now, McAfee cannot update to the latest virus definitions and when I try to run MBAM (either original name or renamed to something else) it opens and then disappears within a few seconds. I want to be sure I have the entire virus removed and get my anti-virus updated and working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
