  9. Welcome I'll be helping you with your computer. Please read this post completely before beginning. If there's anything that you do not understand, please don't hesitate to ask before proceeding. Please take note of the guidelines for this fix: Please note that I am a volunteer. I do have a family, a career, and other endeavors that may prevent immediate responses that meet your schedule. Do note that the differences in time zones could present a problem as well. Your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated. First of all, the procedures we are about to perform are specific to your problem and should only be used on this specific computer. Do not make any changes to your computer that include installing/uninstalling programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, nor running scanners or tools of any kind unless specifically requested by me. Please read ALL instructions carefully and perform the steps fully and in the order they are written. If things appear to be better, let me know. Just because the symptoms no longer exist as before, does not mean that you are clean. Continue to read and follow my instructions until I tell you that your machine is clean. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask before performing the task that I ask of you, and please wait for my reply before you proceed. Scanning with programs and reading the logs do take a fair amount of time. Again, your patience will be necessary. Let's begin... 13. Are you having problems with the Background Task Host? AcerRegistrationBackGroundTask.exe is an executable file that is part of the Acer Product Registration software. This software is developed by Acer Incorporated and is typically located in the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AcerIncorporated.AcerRegistration_2.0.3024.0_x64__48frkmn4z8aw4\DesktopApp directory. The associated software, Acer Product Registration, is used by Acer to collect product registration information from users. This information can include product model, serial number, purchase date, and other details. The software helps Acer to provide better customer service, manage warranties, and offer personalized services and support. The Acer Product Registration software is needed if you want to register your Acer product and receive the associated benefits. If you find that it is causing issues or consuming too many system resources, you may choose to remove it. Some users may consider the data collection aspect of this software to be an invasion of privacy, and choose to remove it for this reason. The C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder is protected. Let me check your logs once again.
  14. What Is RuntimeBroker.exe? The Runtime Broker is a Windows process that is used by universal apps --- Microsoft Store apps --- to control their permissions to access things like your location or microphone. If Runtime Broker is consuming too much RAM or CPU, end the task with Task Manager and restart your PC. You probably spotted the Runtime Broker process in your Task Manager window and wondered what it is, what it does, and maybe even why it spikes CPU usage sometimes. Runtime Broker is an official Microsoft core process that debuted in Windows 8 and is still a part of Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is used to determine whether universal apps you got from the Microsoft Store --- which were called Metro apps in Windows 8 --- are declaring all of their permissions, like being able to access your location or microphone. Though it runs in the background all the time, you will likely see its activity rise when you launch a universal app. You can think of it like a middleman hooking your universal apps with the trust and privacy settings you've configured.
