    Noknojon I did carry out the full clean procedure with Malwarebytes before system restore, so can I now assume I am not infected?

    Many thanks for your offer of help noknojon . I eventually found a post from someone with a similar problem. 3 steps down that fix was giving no joy, so I went into Safe Mode and rolled the system back to pre-infection. It seems fine now. Thanks again.

    Evening All! Downloaded Malwarebytes to remove the "XP security tool" trojan. Having restarted the computer, nothing runs. I get the "Open with" box and am prompted : "Choose the program you want to open this file" Cant even do a system restore. Please help!
