  1. Hi All- I've been a happy user of Malwarebytes for some time and have suvvesfully used it several times on different computers to get rid of malware. Last night I got a new piece of malware and I can't seem to shake it this time. It poses as Microsoft's User Access Control, but I know it is fake, because I am running Windows XP Pro, and User Access Control is not in XP (only Vista and Windows 7). Whenever I try to run an executable, my desktop gets "greyed out" and a window pops up that says: User Account Control an unidentified program wants to access your computer Then there are two options: "Allow" or "Run Scan" Clicking "run scan" takes you through a classic malware false scan and asks you to pay money to get rid of the malware. Clicking "Allow" makes the window go away, but of course it pops back up again if you try to run another executable. After 3-4 times of doing this, the entire desktop gets locked out and the taskbar, start menu, icons, etc all dissappear, and all I see is the desktop background image and nothing else (at which point I am forced to restart my computer). I've run Malwarebytes several times (after updating it) and each time it finds infected items and removes them, but the problem never goes away. HELP PLEASE!!!
