  1. Could be a false positive. I will have your post moved to that section and it will get checked out.
  2. Well music and video can be infected. Malwarebytes does not scan those as mentioned before. Hope Defender is enabled as well.
  3. I am glad, But I do not see many avg users that use a torrent program for much more than media of some kind.
  4. Those servers it blocks are not the dangerous part. It is the final content you download and execute/run.
  5. I will tag some of the experts. Please be patient as this section is busy. @Maurice Naggar@kevinf80@nasdaq
  6. Do not connect or restore the files yet. Do the following and a malware removal expert will assist. Please download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer. Press the Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it al
  7. Just a side comment, Running torrent software on a computer you use for your business has risks of its own.
  8. Do you need assistance removing the ransomware itself if there still? The files can not be decrypted. Is your backup an image of the system or just the files themselves?
  9. I can report the same. What about the screenshot reported by the user. Is it just an old database issue?
  10. In theory yes but no product is perfect. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/medusalocker-ransomware-wants-its-share-of-your-money/
  11. I am glad to hear that. The best protection is current backups that are not attached. I personally Image my computer on a monthly basis like my life depended on it. As for how you were infected, Most ransomware comes from email attachments. Do you remember opening one before this happened?
  12. First thing to do is use the following site to officially identify the ransomware. https://id-ransomware.malwarehunterteam.com/ Do you have current backups this time?
  13. When doing a manual scan, the default is to use as much CPU as possible. Multitasking is difficult during a manual scan.
  14. I currently see a block only with Browser guard for Chrome. The block in the screenshot is from the Main program and I do not see the block. You user might have an out of date database. But not having the browser guard block on all supported platforms is strange. Staff will have to sort this out.
  15. Do you mean you have no automatic scan scheduled and you always run manual scans? If so the first step during a scan is to check for updates. Also if real time is active, by default it checks for updates hourly.
  16. I see a browser guard block in Chrome but not Firefox. @gonzo
  17. Completely different servers. It was not just a definition update.
  18. Create a new topic in our malware removal area by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you in checking and clearing the system of any threats.
  19. If you have not already I would add Browser Guard as well. You can learn more and download Malwarebytes Browser Guard on this page.
  20. Are you using the paid version? If so see below. Malwarebytes is not designed to function like normal AV scanners and uses a new kind of scan engine that relies mostly on heuristics detection techniques rather than traditional threat signatures. Malwarebytes is also designed to look in all the locations where malware is known to install itself/hide, so a full or custom scan shouldn't be necessary, especially on any sort of frequent basis (like daily), especially since the default Threat Scan/Quick Scan checks all loading points/startup locations, the registry, all running processes and t
