  1. Just downloaded the pro version for my daughter's computer. got the key and and id from cleverbridge. I get a message that says thanks for getting Pro. But I can't update, and there is no register option. The activate option remains. What do I do now.
  2. I was infected with what PC Tolls called rootkit tdss or something. Malware could not find it. Pc tools kept finding it and never could remove it. I thought let me just do a system repair on the xp pro. SO Backup up settings, doc and who knows what else (about 27 gb worth of data) to another computer. Inserted original install disk, chose to repair installation, get as fad as installing devices THEN blue screen says atapi.sys error -Address B9EE171D base at B9ED7000, DATESTAMP 4802539d. Check your hardware for BIOS updates. Disable memort options such as cashing and shadowing. Tried to start to last know good configuration, forgot what message it gave me. Tried to boot safe, says can't setup windows in safe mode. WHat now? I don't care if I have to clean install cause I have backup. But will I get this blue screen? If i will I'd rather not reformat the drive. Please help. This is my office computer.
  3. This past week, my daughter's netbook started acting up. All webpages were redirected to some nonsense pages. Ran Malware and three items discovered and fixed. Ran Firefox again and some pages were still being redirected. Decided to run windows update, cause kid never does it on her own, and I keep getting a try again messgae. DD says she heard her computer ticking and then a screen came up saying something about a time machine before the screen went blank the last time she used it. Anyway I have run Malware a few times again and nothing comes up wrong. Have this stupid Verizon security suite that doesn't seem to be doing any good, it was unable to remove the problems Malware did find. I did have to start malware by changing to mbam.com. What now? Although she can use Firefox some pages are still redirecting so there is obviously something there but I don't know how to fix it. Last time she had a virus which wouldn't let the computer turn on, I retrieved the important files through my laptop and the just reset hers with the original disks. Don't really want to go that far since the computer does start up and run other programs just fine. Thanks for your help. Oh and can someone tell me what the upgraded version of malware does. Can it protect better than Verizon Mcafee
