  1. Hello. I have an XP machine that while booting, after the Windows XP Logo with the blue bar under it shows, receives a message box titled "lsass.exe - Application Error" with the message "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000ld). Click on OK to terminate the application." This occurs twice and then just sits on an empty black screen. It never reaches the login screen. I have tried booting to safe mode and the last good configuration and they both experience the same thing. I posted on PC Help first, and they said to perform the suggessted steps then post here if it didn't work. However, since I can't get the machine to boot, I cannot install any of the fixes graciously suggested in the PC Help forum. nor get the updates needed once installed, because there is no access to the internet on that computer. I am presently downloading Malwarebytes and other suggested tools to a flash drive on my laptop to install on the broken desktop computer once it becomes workable to that point. http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...plication+error There is no boot disk for this "brother in law special" machine. If it is completely fried, is there a way to get the data off it, at least? Would prefer to fix it though. Any help would be greatly appreciated! In case it helps, here is the information about that computer: OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name RESEARCH System Manufacturer VIA Technologies, Inc.
