  1. Not quite sure how that applies to my suggestion though?
  2. I just came from an Mbam client subscriber who has had the program nearly a year, and while the update to the new version 1.45 occurred just fine, they did not know to setup scheduling again for updates and scans and had 51 infections on their system. Somehow they didn't notice that they had not run daily scan in over a month and this is not a dope, he is a retired teacher. I also think even if they find the schedule page, they need to know that after selecting a time they need to choose "add" for update and scan schedule. Managmenet needs to send email to every subscriber warning them of these changes and/or make that transition easier for the average customer.
  3. No not free I'm afraid I don't on the other hand I recommend Itunes to my clients. It sure beats my rates to "wipe and load" their systems every 3 months to pay for downloads.
  4. If the icon is there in color as it was, then follow marktreg instructions as the infection is still there. If the color is out of it simply right click and delete it.
  5. It should be, have you chosen "classic" for Control Panel menu as it does not default to that.
  6. marktreg is dead on. You can't download from a site like Limewire and fail to be infected.
  7. I have tested that program many times, including about a month ago. I never saw it as system drag but it was about 1/2 as effective as Mbam or Sas and that is what I have always found with it.
  8. It's not free but a program called Ad Muncher will eliminate the banners and therefore the popups. www.admuncher.com If you go into the buy screens there is a lifetime purchase so you don't have to pay yearly if you appreciate it. You can also make entries into the Master Hosts file is the other way but that is tedious and difficult.
  9. OK I assumed that was for other things but makes sense to me! Maybe better descriptives need to be on the forum titles, as that one says " Please do not post any questions regarding malware in this forum" and you are saying they should?
  10. OK thanks Ron, I will use this then from now on...Say maybe the name of the forum needs changing then as it states "Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs ", especially if it isn't for hijack this logs anymore? Just a thought.
  11. You need to repost in the Malware Forum with a hijackthis log for professional help. The general forums do not deal with these issues. Download and install hijackthis to your working pc and then post the log in the right forum. http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-Hijac...4-10227353.html
  12. Very nice and clean site. Lots of luck with it!
  13. OK that is part of my question as if the update is set for auto, then it would happen automatically? I assume you are referring to free version?
  14. Ron, Do you know how the new version will be offered? Will it be part of an auto update i.e or will there be a "nag message" popping up asking us to download a new version etc...I am asking because I have n't been a user for that long and have never seen such an ugrade so I want to be able to tell clients what to look for so they can change the settings inside their versions also.
  15. Actually I can't speak for Avast but I was a reseller for Avg for years and there is no difference at all in the Antivirus, only the update feature was different.
  16. What version of IE and what version of Windows?
  17. Sorry but what does "when I fresh a window mean"? I doubt anyone can help you without a better explanation and version of Windows.
  18. Great catch mountaintree! And you are so right this is behind most malware issues today.
  19. I have to agree with the article that FREE AV are not necessarily deficient in all the functions the article deals with, but that isn't my problem with them. What I have found is they are reactive as opposed to proactive and therefore provide little or no protection "at the gate". So the method is let in and remove vs repel at the gate as Nod32 Bit Defender and Kaspersky do. That is where the difference lies.
  20. Glad to be here Kenny. Getting answers around here can be as tough as pulling teeth but that doesn't mean we have to lay down and die either. That has never been anything I was good at! I love the product and have the faith in it and that has to be the most important thing, not the personal stuff!
  21. Well as I figured beta cleared up whole issue on my 2 pc's and the freeze issue is completely gone for now!!!!
  22. Nor will it work on new programs installed either....without being hooked to the internet.
