  1. Hello I have been reselling MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware for the past 18 months or so. I usually supply the consumer licenses. For these I will normally purchase a batch of licenses. Occasionally I have business clients that I supply corporate licenses. For these I always buy the required amount of licenses and register in my client's name. All done via Cleverbridge. The last couple of corporate licenses I have purchased tell me that the subscription has ended and there will be no further billing events. This is different to how it used to work. Normally the message from CleverBridge would say I am subscribed to a multiple payment product. Then I would be billed and I would then bill my client. I did find this way a bit of a pain to deal with as I worry that I'm going to forget to charge a client. Anyway I don't have a large number of corporate clients so it's not a huge issue. But can someone confirm or explain what is going on here? Is Cleverbridge going to notify my client directly and then they pay them for the following year's subscription? If not how do you continue the subscription on a corporate license?
  2. Hi there Hader You may find it useful to try the manual registry method of adding exclusions to McAfee: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=76402 The info on how to do this is in post #3 and #9 .. I have configured lots of systems successfully using those registry exclusions and setting MBAM to ignore McAfee's files and folders. 64 bit and 32 bit. But none of them had a solid state drive... Good luck!
  3. Serif Page Plus is worth a look as well. Starter edition is free with email activation. Unfortunately none of the publisher alternatives can open the files created by MS Publisher.
  4. Hi TinkBell. You're welcome! I'm very pleased to hear that you're up and running with McAfee and MBAM Pro. Thanks for registering and posting in detail the method you used.
  5. Just updated my old AMD Athlon XP test rig. Installing straight over the top as well. Win XP Pro 32 bit, 1gb RAM, Running McAfee Internet Security. It had been running slowly lately. Straight after updating the system is now running noticeably faster. Prior to the upgrade Memory usage for MBAMSERVICE was around 80,000. Now down to around 23,000. Nice improvement!
  6. No problems installing over the top on my home PC. Running Win 7 x64 Home Premium with Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security alongside MBAM Pro.
  7. Very nice pictures! Brings back great memories of attending my first Indy Car race way back in the mid 90's. Experiencing the speed, power and the noise up close for the first time. Along with soaking up all the atmosphere track side was very cool! So much better than just watching on TV. A shame that the access to the track isn't as good now but I'm sure it would have been a great weekend all the same.
  8. I now have the .txt files of the registry keys. Two of them are XP systems that I setup last year. The other is for a Vista 32 bit machine I did yesterday. The XP systems are interesting as the MBAM exclusion entries are no longer the last ones. They definitely were when I set them up. If you look you can see a few exclusion entries for Sonic. That obviously would have happened during a McAfee software update. It pleases me that McAfee didn't trash/overwrite my manually added entries for MBAM. If anyone reading this thread and trying these methods pleast post your results as WetLook has done. Also if you can add your basic system details CPU type/speed, memory Operating system. That would be great as well. mcvista.txt mcxp.txt mcxp2.txt
  9. Excellent! Great to hear your issue looks to be resolved. Thankyou for posting the full details of the settings used.
  10. No there are no issues with the free version. It's only MBAM Pro with the real time protection module enabled that the problems can occur.
  11. My deepest sympathies to all his family to all his friends and family from another Aussie on the other side of the continent. His presence will be sadly missed. I am sorry I never had the opportunity to speak with him. From his posts and the thoughts of others I'm sure we would have had quite a bit in common.
  12. Thanks Wetlook for adding your system specs! Are you still experiencing freezes after adding all of the McAfee folders and files to the ignore list of MalwareBytes? Could you just check my post here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=76402&view=findpost&p=393939 and confirm you have all the relevant McAfee files and folders in your ignore list?
  13. Ok so I have now compiled a more comprehensive list of files and folders to go in the ignore list tab of MalwareBytes FOLDERS (Most important to resolve freezing and severe system slowdowns) For Windows XP only: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\McAfee For Windows Vista and 7 only - both 32 bit and 64 bit: C:\Program Data\McAfee Note: If you cannot find the above folders make sure your system is set to view "Show Hidden files and folders" For all versions of Windows XP Vista and 7: C:\Program Files\McAfee C:\Program Files\McAfee.com C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee For 64 bit Windows 7 and Vista only: C:\Program Files(x86)\McAfee C:\Program Files(x86)\McAfee.com C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\McAfee FILES (These are McAfee drivers - by adding these you should have better system performance) For Windows XP\Vista\7 32 bit: (Not for 64 bit refer to note below): C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfeapfk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfeavfk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfebopk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfeclnk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfefirek.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfehidk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfendisk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mferkdet.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfetdi2k.sys Note about the files above. I have found it is not possible to add these files on 64 bit versions of Windows 7 even though the files do exist. I don't understand why this but as explained earlier the folders are the critical ones. Also as promised these are the manual McAfee registry exclusions for 64 bit Windows 7 and Vista. Please read my post 3 in this thread on how to add these using regedit. 4|3|%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe 4|3|%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe 4|3|%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe 4|3|%windir%\system32\drivers\mbam.sys 4|3|%windir%\syswow64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
  14. No problem! Yes I can export the parent key. This is for the McAfee registry exclusions I presume? Also can I ask is there any way to export the ignored files and folders for MalwareBytes? That always takes me longer to do those than the registry edits for McAfee.
  15. Hi again Wetlook. Sorry I didn't see your questions in this thread before replying to your topic in the General forum. To answer your question about the "NumExcludeItems". From your screenshot you have that correct. I always just change to decimal and enter the number of excluded items. Just ignore the hex and look at the number in brackets. I hope that adding all the McAfee files and folders to the ignore list in MBAM resolves your freezing issues. A system i was working on a little while ago was also freezing even after adding the exclusions. Running Mbam-clean.exe and reinstalling MalwareBytes was the solution for that one. Would you mind posting your system specs? CPU Model/speed and amount of memory.
  16. Hi there Wetlook Good idea for a pinned topic. I was going to request this a little while ago but never got around to it. I agree with your that would be helpful to have this information all together! I have spent quite a bit of testing with McAfee trying to resolve freezing problems with MBAM Pro. I'm sure you've been reading a few of my posts. I also see daledoc1 has linked to one of them. So to help get the ball rolling. I'll post the method here that I am still using for 32 bit Windows with good results. (This works for XP, Vista and 7) I will add the info for 64 bit later. This is for McAfee Total Protection and McAfee Internet Security current versions 2010/11 (32 Bit Operating Systems) Thanks to GT500 for finding and testing these. In MalwareBytes go to the Ignore List tab and add the following: Folders: C:\Program Files\McAfee C:\Program Files\McAfee.com C:\Program Files\Common Files\Mcafee Files: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfeapfk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfeavfk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfebopk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfeclnk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfefirek.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfehidk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfendisk.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mferkdet.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mfetdi2k.sys To test see if you can run a scan in McAfee. Also try a quick scan in MalwareBytes. For an even better test try running both at once. Now for the slightly tricky section. Because the current consumer versions of McAfee do not allow scan exclusions you have to do this manually by using regedit. If you do not feel confident in editing the registry then see how you go with the above and skip this part. Adding to the ignore list may well resolve your freezing issue on its own. Ok so here is how to manually create exclusions for McAfee. Firstly you will have to uncheck "use access protection" In the settings Untick it. With that done you can go to work with regedit. Remember to turn it back on when you are done. Navigate to the following key. Hkey Local Machine --> Software ---> McAfee ---- System Core ---> VsCore ---> On Access Scanner ---> McShield --> Configuration ---> Default ---> You need to create new string values as follows: The string values should each be called ExcludedItem_Number (each one should be numbered sequentially) In my case the first string value I entered was "ExcludedItem_17" 4|3|%PROGRAMFILES%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe 4|3|%PROGRAMFILES%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe 4|3|%PROGRAMFILES%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe 4|3|%windir%\system32\drivers\mbam.sys 4|3|%windir%\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys When done adding the string values. Locate the key called "NumExcludeItems" You then need to modify this value to the total number of exclusions. But add one to this number. As there is one exclusion called "ExcludedItem_0" Before adding the exclusions. My number here was 17. There were 17 excluded items counting the zero one. After adding the excluded items for malwarebytes my total exclusions was 22 (counting the Excludeditem_0) Please refer to the screenshot if you are unsure of how it should look.
  17. You're welcome John A. All still good right now! That sounds like an interesting new feature in MSE. I'm currently troubleshooting this laptop for another issue. Which has been a strange one but it isn't related to MSE. Seems to be resolved now after a driver update. Anyhow I will be testing this system a lot over the next few days with MBAM Pro and MSE 2.0 active. I'll let you know if find any problems!
  18. Yep! Working just fine on this Toshiba laptop. Win Vista Business 32 Bit. I have added the usual exclusions for MBAM files. Nice that they have added a box where you can now add multiple exclusions. Similar to AVG. I also have set MBAM to ignore the MSE folder which now has a different folder name. "Microsoft Security Client"
  19. I have been following this thread with great interest after encountering the very same issue with McAfee Total Protection with Windows XP. I spent a bit of time googling around and came across a very useful forum post on a Logitech Sqeezebox forum with some good info about exclusions. It was somewhat outdated (2008) but the basic proceedure was still valid. Anyway so it is possible to add exclusions to McAfee Consumer products but you have to edit the registry to do so. From what I read in the McAfee forums options for scan exclusions were dropped a version or two ago. You can still allow programs firewall access but that doesn't help when the conflict is with the real time protection. Anyway here is how you can create exclusions by editing the registry. Firstly you will have to disable "use access protection" By opening McAfee and unchecking it. Also disable "Reatime scanning" by selecting Turn off. With that done you can go to work with regedit. Navigate to the following key. Hkey Local Machine --> Software ---> McAfee ---- System Core ---> VsCore ---> On Access Scanner ---> McShield --> Configuration ---> Default You now need to create new string values for each of the following. 4|3|%PROGRAMFILES%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe 4|3|%PROGRAMFILES%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe 4|3|%PROGRAMFILES%\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe 4|3|%windir%\system32\drivers\mbam.sys 4|3|%windir%\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys The string values should each be called ExcludedItem_Number (each one should be numbered sequentially) In my case the first string value I entered was "ExcludedItem_17" Keep going for "ExcludedItem_18" and so on... When done locate the key called "NumExcludeItems" We need to modify this value to the total number of exclusions But add one to this number. As there is one exclusion called "ExcludedItem_0" Before adding the exclusions. My number here was 17. There were 17 excluded items counting the zero one. After adding the excluded items for malwarebytes my total exclusions was 22 (counting the Excludeditem_0) Anyware if you are unsure please look at the my exclusions screenshot and you will see an example of how it should look. When you are done reboot your system to and there shouldn't have any more lockups with McAfee and MalwareBytes. Try a quick scan in McAfee. This seems to be the quickest way to reproduce the freezing fault. I am still testing this but I believe you will also have to use a delay either using the registry or a program like Win Patrol to prevent any lockups on Windows startup.
  20. Thanks Yardbird! That's good to know that the latest Trend 2011 can also be made compatible. I have been using the exclusions for a long time when I found the info here on the forums by googling. These have been very helpful and I really appreciate your efforts and everyone else involved. It was a couple of years back and I was working on a system running Trend 2009 that I was trying to clean malware from and MBAM kept dissapearing during the scan. It sure had me puzzled for quite a while! Can I ask did you ever experience the issue with the freezing on startup? Or are you running Vista or Windows 7? Also do you know if you do an upgrade to 2011 are the exclusions retained in Trend? I assume it's going to be basicly the same process to set them up again anyway. No problem Sir! Interestingly I was only working on another system today. Must have been an old version of MBAM on it and I noticed the mbam-dor.exe was there.
  21. A bit of an update to this issue. I did have my client disable the MBAM resident. And this resolved all their lockup issues. It turned out that the lockups were always on startup. When both Trend Micro and MBAM were trying to load initially. Since this time I have had a few home users also running Trend Micro Internet Security 2010 that I have sold Malwarebytes consumer licenses. As with my business client they are running Windows XP. These also lockup on startup when both Trend and MBAM are trying to load together. After a lot of digging around on these forums I found some very helpful info here about startup delays: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=15456 This allowed me to test various delays and through quite a bit of testing I found a suitable delay that effectively solves the issue. Credit and a big thanks to the posters in that thread. Now whenever I have been selling and installing MBAM pro with Trend Internet Security is running the following registry fix. To casue a delay for MBAMGUI. I still make all exclusions as per the guide of course as well as the delay. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware] "delayguistart"=dword:b4 This is for Trend Micro Internet Security or Internet Security Pro users on XP. Vista and Win 7 do not need the delay. Hope this helps anyone else that may be struggling with the same issue. I do not know is relevant for the new 2011 products. Now called Titanium and Maximum Security. I have noticed that installing either of these insists on the removal of MalwareBytes before they will install.
  22. Thanks TeMerc. I'll do that if I can't resolve the issue. It's the weekend now but on Monday I'm going to have them disable MBAM resident in safe mode just to be 100% certain that it is the cause. These issues are frustrating when you go for an hour or more without a freeze and you think it's resolved. But then all of a sudden you get several freezes within 10 minutes.
  23. Hi noknojon Yes I made the exclusions shown in the FAQ. I had a laptop last week that had Trend Micro 2009 Pro with MBAM resident but running Vista. I did exactly the same exclusions with it and there were no problems. One thing though with the guide is that I can never seem to find that mbam-dor.exe file to exclude? The rest are all done. Seems to be easier to get MBAM Pro to work properly with your typical Internet security software on Windows 7 and Vista machines than it is with XP.
  24. Sorry I deleted the logs. But yes the mbam logs are now clean. I did a scan with Trend Micro and this only found a few cookies. Thanks. I''ll try running the kaspersky tool once more just to see if it detects it again and so it will generate another log.
