  3. Thanks. In the meantime ill uninstall and download the version from the website see if that updates.
  4. Sure, thanks. I tried that makes no diff, says unable to connect to update server.
  5. Which box exactly, what setting, can you be more specific? Thanks
  6. I'm unable to update as well, no problems ever before, but suddenly getting a message saying check your firewall and internet connection. No probs with internet connection, and ZA firewall set to 'allow'. Something is wrong it would seem, any help appreciated, thanks!
  7. Hi, The same thing happened to me and this is how I fixed it. 1. Reset your modem. On the back of the modem should be a small 'reset' button, hold it in for a couple of seconds and release, your modem should then re-boot. 2. Open command prompt. (Start>>Search>>cmd.exe.) Type in: ipconfig /flushdns (with the space)>>press <Enter>. See if you can navigate web pages now. Let us know how you get on.
  8. I have been trying to upload a file in the new threats thread, however it says I have used up nearly all of my 10MB "quota", even before I try to upload. I looked at my settings, and there are some old posts there with attachments, but my history doesn't show the post so I can't delete those attachments. Is it possible for me to have the upload setting put back to zero so I can upload a new threat, or are we only "ALLOWED" a certain amount of upload space per user, (not per post). Thanks!
  9. OK I'll add the file to the ignore list, thanks again for your help.
  10. I will. You "default detect"? OK.
  11. Yeah well, I think I should stop submitting here. I sent the file to both Kaspersky and Symantec, and both replied saying that the file was neither infected nor malicious, and was removed from their data bases. (Kaspersky didn't even have it there in the first place, and Symantec originally had it as a 'potential' risk, but have subsequently removed the false detection). It's cool with me if you want to be the internet police, but I think you should only be detecting infected files. I'd like to use the context of this post to quote in another forum, but I ask for your permission first if you would let me know. Thanks for you help and time, I do appreciate it.
  12. No, it isn't. It's strange how it's being detected by MB all of a sudden, it's been on my PC for ages. : -)
  13. This file has been analysed by Symantec and Kaspersky and removed from their data base, false positive. Thanks! 14. I don't think the file is 'illegal' as far as the law is concerned, was just wondering if it actually infected, and if so, could you let me know? Thanks in advance.

  16. I've just purchased and installed MB Full version. However, I tried it out by running the eicar and Spycar tests, but it failed to block both, or even recognise them. Under 'protection', the box to 'enable protection module' seems ticked but it is greyed out, but all the boxes below can be ticked or unticked. Why isn't the program picking up these test strings? PS I have the most recent def updates. Thanks!
  17. I forgot to mention is this the correct way to submit a false positive and could someone look into this for me please. Thanks.
