  1. For heavens sake, all upgrades should migrate the scheduling of the current installation.  I have installed Malwarebytes Pro on most computers that I support and have been flooded with more than 100 calls about the scheduled scans were lost and the new version frequently popping up about database out of date.  It is scaring the hell out of users.  This is a lot of work for me that I cannot bill for.

  2. The news forum has many posts about the recommendations in the news to disable JAVA because of a widely announced exploit. The problem is that none of these posts mention anything about Malwarebytes' protection against this exploit. I saw a blog this morning saying "you are protected if you ae running Malwarebytes Pro" but the lady gave no testing support for her comment.

  3. Malwarebytes Pro recently updated to new program version on my family computer. After the update, it said the ID and Key Code were invalid and reverted to a trial installation. I launched a trouble ticket here and was issued a new ID and Key Code as if I made a new purchase. I entered the new info and Malwarebytes Reactivated - - - for now.

I have a computer business that does consulting, design, and repair. I have over a hundred customers who bought Malwarebytes Pro on my recommendation, and I installed and configured it for them. I wonder how many of them have this same problem and do not even know it. :( Most of them would not know how to request a new ID and Key Code or how to reactive their installation. Does anyone know how often this is happening or how to prevent it?

    P.S.

I am not a Malwarebytes reseller. I applied a couple of years ago and, after over a month wait, was told that my account could only be "provisionally approved" though that status was never explained to me except that my purchase price would be more than I was paying other resellers.

  4. I did an update to the Malwarebytes Pro program today which required a computer restart. After restarting, Malwarebytes generated Error: 2. I closed the popup error message and launched Malwarebyte's manually. The update launched as a trial. When I enteredd my ID and license code, it rejected it saying that it is invalid. Well, it is the very same ID and code that I have used since I purchased it in 2008 so why does it not work now? i am copying the code from the Cleverbridge receipt.

I tried downloading Malwarebytes and reinstalling but it made no difference.

  5. According to our QC Team the following should be true.

Avast! filters all web traffic, including browser traffic, so whenever a connection is made or attempted, Avast!'s process will show up as the process making the connection (because this is how Windows sees it), therefore all IP blocks will show Avast!'s process as the process being blocked.

The same is true of Kaspersky.

That is good to know. I have seen that behavior before and wondered about it.

I highly recommend including your explanation in the program documention.

  6. I recommend Malwarebytes too all my customer, I have tried to set up a partner account several time, I am usually rejected because my website ranking is low, and I understand that, however you should also understand I would not rely only my website, my customers rely on my porfessional opinion as far as what to use. so basically at this point even though the pro version IS BETTER I cannot see recommending my customers to buy a product that will not let the person who recommended it get benifit also

I ran into the same problem. I was too busy working on computer systems to work on my website so I was denied a partner account. My experience is that people have great difficulty surfing the internet to find my website when their PC is broke. Over 90% of my customers find me by recommendations - - not website browsing.

You can still buy 5 or 10 licenses at a time to get the bulk discount then resell them to your customers.

  7. I have contacted Cleverbridge before but was unable to get the codes because the customer did not have the orignal e-mail message and/or did not even still have the same e-mail account. Giving the customer's name and address was not enough. Usually, they just lose the program because they will not pay again for another license. I was hoping Malwarebytes might have a utility to discover the license so it could be used on a reinstall.

It really seems strange to me but I have come across many customers who have never saved an e-mail message yet they have every paper bill that have recieved for the last 20 years. Their view is that anything important is on paper. At least if they had printed the e-mail message they would have it.

  8. A full scan (v1.50 with latest definition file) on a new Dell PC identifies a desktop shortcut link to CNET's website download.com as a Rogue.Link .

While some rogue software does slip through this site occasionally, I would not consider it dangerous. If the Malwarebytes staff does not consider this a false positive, that is OK too. I just thought it looked strange to me considering much of the Malwarebytes downloads probably come from that site.

  9. Samuel:

Besides being an effective program, the "lifetime subscription" is indeed the #1 selling point. Most of my customers are reluctant to pay more money for another security program until I explain to them that it is a one-time charge, then they usually agree to it. I do not believe it would be nearly as popular with renewal fees.

I do need to pursue a reseller account again though. I have been buying from another reseller for less than I could purchase direct; however, that deal is no longer available.

  10. Samuel:

Your statement is a bit presumptuous. Malwarebytes is not considered a standalone antivirus system; therefore, the user often pays an annual RTU fee for Avast, Symantec, McAfee, etc. too. Using Malwarebytes does not mean that a system will not become infected and need professional help. I have worked on two in the last month that were running Malwarebytes and still got infected. One of them was an install of Antivir Solution Platinum which is a rogue security program that should have been blocked from loading.

I do agree with you that it is a good value over time. As for priority customer support, less than 5% of my customers would ever contact Malwarebytes for support. They will either call me or remove it. The support for Malwarebytes is better than most software programs. I get the licenses 5 at a time to save costs. I do wish I could get better prices on single purchases though. Keep up the good work. :(
