  1. Should I study this afternoon, or go and play video games? I'm at a loss of what to do. I don't want to study, but should I be responsible? Sigh....
  2. @ buttons, yep, that actually used to be a beach. Half the beach is apparently gone
  3. Hello all, the storm is passed and the damage has been minimal. Mostly trees and supericial infrastructure damage. Our coastline and beaches have changed a bit, as it usual with any big storm, and there has been some flooding. I am happy to report that there have been no deaths or major injuries, although a few people have suffered some property damage. I've attached photos.
  4. @ moutaintree I've been texting my sister and the only damage we know of right now is trees strewn about by the winds. The damage won't be tallied until tomorrow once the hurricane passes and people leave their homes.
  5. A quick update: Igor seems to have lost most of its strength last night and even though it is hitting the Island as I type this, it seems it will pose minimal threat to the Island now. Wow, its crazy how fast things can change when nature is involved, eh?
  6. Hello all, My home is going to be hit bu Hurricane Igor tonight. The storm is expected to last from tonight until Monday morning. This is expected to be the worst hurricane inBermuda's history so I would appreciate it if you guys may keep my beautiful home in mind as the storm is bound to cause some severe damage. I have been talking to my family and friends from home and it seems that the Island is in total hurricane mode. I just wish I can be there as not knowing what is happening is killing me
  7. Thanks you guys. What exactly is Sphinx and what can it do? I suppose I should google it.
  8. Hello all, I've got an issue and I decided to come here since you guys have been so helpful in the past. I'm trying to install a firewall on a 32-bit windows 7 system with Microsoft Security Essentials as an AV. Every firewall I have tried to install either bogs down my system badly (online armor 4.5), fails to initialize (PC tools free firewall), or works, but I'm dubious as to the protection it offers, not to mention it seems very choppy (Comodo free firewall). Before I attempt a new firewall I do completely uninstall the previous one. I just want a user-friendly firewall that offers great proteection and dosen't slow things down too badly. Sadly, I can't seem to achieve this. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to what the issue could be? Currently, PCTools is installed on my computer and its not initializing. Thanks a bunch
  9. @Opium Wow, I didn't realize the Australia requirements were that stringent. In Ontario, to enter an MD program one must complete either 3 or 4 years Undergrad before they apply. If one wants to enter a health science program, I believe only grade 12 Biology, Chemisty, or Physics is needed with a social science and a B average.
  10. I'm involved in medicine myself. It can be challenging at times, but if you organize your time and simply put in the work, it is not as overwhelming as you may think. If you are really interested in medicine, to prepare you should do a few general science courses such as biology, chemistry and a social science is very useful -- perhaps psychology. My sister's are both nurses and they love their profession. I'm studying to become a physiotherapist. It is allot of fun and I have done a few med school classes, it is very, very interesting. As was already said above, follow your gut and be flexible. I originally wanted to become an audiologist, but I eventually realized physio was more interesting to me. Goodluck!
  11. For all the Opera users: Is Opera less of a resource hog than Firefox?
  12. By "Malware", do you mean MalwareBytes?
  13. Welcome Great to "meet" you
  14. Hello, Sorry for the late response, but I just saw my friend and did the work around Exile360 suggested. Exile, you are awesome....It works now
  15. I could be wrong, but perhaps updates requiring a restart to fully install will count the time until you actually restart. For instance, you use Windows update, get the update installed, but then you need to restart for them to fully install. This could possibly account for the lengthy installation time observed in the event viewer.
  16. Enjoy the anniversary of your birth with new vigor!!!
  17. I've tried Reg Cure......It's a piece of *%$# I find it funny how I would scan, clean the registry, do another one a minute later and still have like hundreds of errors. It's just a big scam.
  18. Thanks you guys, I just saw this thread today. It's been a good birthday despite exams and catching the flu. I guess computers aren't the only things that can get sick, eh? And Sho-dan, that cake certainly was filling
  19. Haha, I work at a psychiatric hospital, I think you'd be one of the normal ones if you had such pictures on your wall.
  20. If you did, I think the award for "most dedicated user" would go to you.
  21. Haha, yeah the MalwareBites screen name is an ode to a great security program. I like to think I'm honoring it.
  22. Thanks YoKenny1, I just got your message.
  23. Does anyone know of a program like ThreatFire that would do the same thing and is free? I was reading a little bit about it and it seems MBAM paid performs the same function
