  1. Thanks for asking, but I couldn't wait a half month for a reply with my computer freezing and unprotected, so I uninstalled McAfee and they agreed to give me a refund after admitting that others are having similar issues with their updated UI. Thanks though.
  2. Hello. Here is the big picture of my issue. I am running McAfee Total Protection. I purchased the 2010 Version in November of 2009. Everything worked perfectly for 3 months, as it did for a year previous to my renewal in November. I read in PCMagazine about a new 2010 User Interface that McAfee was releasing which included a faster scan and less resource utilization. I contacted their Tier 1 tech support and they took over my PC and installed the New 2010 User Interface. Almost immediately after getting off the chat with them, my PC froze. The hard drive runs and you can see where you left off on the screen, but the mouse doesn't move, you can't control alt delete, you hear no sound, only a hard boot temporarily fixes the issues. Everytime I reboot, I always get to the desktop, but once every 3 times or so the computer will freeze before it connects to the internet. The freezing has also occurred when running the detailed Malwarebytes scan. Twice it froze on two World of Warcraft files, so I uninstalled that, but to no avail. When I uninstall McAfee, everything works perfectly for days of testing. No freezing will occur. WIth Avira free antivirus running in the background and Windows Defender, for whatever reason I am able to run the Malwarebytes detailed scan with no issues. When McAfee is installed, I can only run the Quickscan. McAfee Tier 2 picked up the following files using Malwarebytes quick scan: Rogue.installer and Hijack.Display Properties. Another thread in this forum talks about how the Hijack.Display Properties is a false positive....so I dont know if it matters if I have that quarantined or not. Regardless, my PC freezes with McAfee whether that file is quarantined or restored. I have now been on the chat with McAfee Tier 2 support for countless hours and they cannot fix the problem. they have ran ChckDisk at least 8 times. There own detailed scan does not pick up anything. To me it just seems logical that if the problem only occurs when there software is installed and performs perfectly with Avira and Windows Defender, that it is some type of conflict with their new user interface. I have attached a DxDiag so you can see my PC. I uninstalled McAfee because it was freezing my PC too much. Here is the link to their forum so you can see step by step what I have done in more detail and the order those steps were done. Others are posting they are having the same problem. http://community.mcafee.com/thread/21750?s...=0&tstart=0 Also, I am posting the HijackThis run I just did. I don't know if its appropriate that I am posting this here, so I apologize in advance. I saw another forum thread here where you can upload the same file, but it says I am not authorized and it wont let me attach it here. Thanks for any help in advance.
