I had much the same problem as feingfrogy and after finding this post ( MUCH THANKS seekit ) and following the directions in section D as you pointed out. All issues of connectivity and updating have been resolved. I'm able to update malwarebytes and it even fixed my problem with connecting to yahoo instant messenger!!! Again my thanks to you! Great forum.
