  1. svchost has been running at a very high CPU for several minutes (70%+), seemingly random, but I noticed yesterday that this happens after a manual MBAM update or when a setting in MBAM is changed. For instance, I disabled the website blocking and svchost also ran very high for several minutes. The ID of svchost is 1688. I've also noticed that my internet connection is disabled from time to time although I've not been able to determine whether this is related to the high cpu of svchost 1688. I run MBAM real time and also have Eset Nod32 av, Windows firewall and EMET. Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit running as admin, UAC is set to max. Nod32 is set to exclude MBAM and MBAM is set to exclude Nod32. The exclusion settings in nod32 for MBAM only include the MBAM files in the program files. Are there processes that also need excluded? Any other ideas?
  2. I have Windows 7 32 bit and another machine with Windows 7, 64 bit. MBAM Pro 1.60 is running on each machine. I have read there is a conflict with Kaspersky Internet Security and MBAM. Does this conflict still exists and, if so, are there any work arounds? Also, does the conflict exist if MBAM's real time protection is disabled? thanks
  3. MBAM what about the red cross-like logo in the white area of the box, beside the word Protect and above the MBAM "M" logo. Does that signify anything in particular? Or is that the retail logo?
  4. I love the product and own a paid license on each of my computers. I have a question about the marketing, though. Why are there two (maybe three?) distinct and different logos? Seems confusing.
  5. Do you have XP, Vista or Windows 7? If XP I would go with Avast over MSE. With Vista or Widows 7 it's up to you which to go with. I would not get too concerned about upgrading to SAS Pro as the real time protection offered is not that great- although it has a nice on demand scan. With SAS Pro you really are not adding any type of protection as both MSE and Avast have you covered. MBAM has some extra protection in its real time protection- IP blocking, especially. And the real time monitoring of MBAM has caught a few things av's I have used missed. Right now I am using MBAM and Nod32 maxed out and they are working together really well.
  6. I think the only other issue I forgot to bring up in an earlier post is that there were some requests/suggestions that the MBAM site have one of those 2-3 minute youtube-like videos to show how the product works, different settings, etc. Sometimes these need to include pretty obvious things like where and how to apply the product key. A fairly large number of people were wanting to how to exclude MBAM from antivirus scanners and what to do when an error message pops up, had a couple of those on install attempts. Some suggestions were that a quick video or two would be a nice supplement to a FAQ page.
  7. Forgot to add a couple things. First the bitsdujour promo did not get off to a good start as there was a referral link problem. That was corrected within a short time (I'm wanting to say about an hour or so). Then there was a period when the licenses were sold out- for about another hour or so. But that was remedied later when the deal went live again- probably the last 4 hours or so.
  8. The bitsdujour promo was a big hit on slickdeals- made front page. 50k+ hits and some 400+ posts in about 34 hours. Things were rolling along at a fairly even pace of 5-7k hits the first 5 hours or so (the original post on slickdeals was made about 10 hours prior to the offer going live) , then the MBAM deal hit front page and the responses and hits really took off. I get an email with every response to my posts- my phone was going nuts with notices of mail received. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1865505 I have made slickdeals posts that made front page before, and with a higher hit number. But those were mainly for media products (free offers for DVD/ Blu-Ray Rippers, video converters, etc). But I have never had a security product get hits like this. For instance, I have posts about the free offers for several security product promos - like a dozen or more over the past year - all well known and respected brand names. You could add all their hits together and not come up to 1/3 the response MBAM received as a paid promo. Simply amazing response. I tried to answer as many posts as possible, and referred some user questions to this forum. Overall there is a lot of support for this product and it has a very large, loyal following. Heck a lot of responses were people wanting to purchase just to show thanks for the freeware version of MBAM that has helped them out in the past. A couple suggestions about the product for MBAM to consider- 1. There was a lot of concern about the length of the license. I realize the info is posted on the site. But consumers were really having a hard time having it explained to them. The slickdeals lot is usually a picky bunch. But clear info about the length of the license on the purchase page may help with concerns. The $14.99 promo had many people thinking this was a one year license. 2. There was a lot of concern over the MBAM paid product name. I guess the paid product is essentially called the "Full" version. But it would help with marketing if something more specific was made to differentiate from the free product. 3. Not one complaint about not being able to test the full version before buying. 4. Several responses about contacting MBAM support during the promo and getting fast and helpful responses. The above are just my 2 cents worth. Anyway, it was a great promo. Thanks.
