  1. I won't ask how the Store version is "crippled," as that's beyond the scope of this topic. Also, it's not a matter of "have to," but of convenience. It's in the Microsoft Store, so I got it from there. But I'm already digressing... My point is, Malwarebytes shouldn't shut down Firefox -- crippled or not -- if the user legitimately requests to set Firefox as the default browser.

  2. I've installed the Microsoft Store version of Firefox. When I try to set it as the default browser, Malwarebytes flags this as an exploit and shuts down the app abruptly. I consider this to be a very odd behavior, since I can manually set the default browser to Firefox through Settings > Apps > Default apps. I've enclosed a log file listing the details of what I consider to be a false positive exploit detection.

  3. I use this program to reduce the size of Steven Black's hosts file so it will work better on Windows. When I ran a system scan using Malwarebytes, it picked it up as malware, thus:

    Generic.Malware/Suspicious, C:\USERS\[REDACTED]\DOWNLOADS\HOSTS\HOSTSCOMPRESS-X64.EXE, No Action By User, 0, 392686, 1.0.85890, , shuriken, , 1744795D9F41A3A2D07F2ADD046D0B9F, 360C8F169923254D1420336562AC12E15BF3B5FBF4AC0A3C1D8F17048862E1EC

Ian Pride, the developer of this app, has confirmed that this is a false positive (https://github.com/Lateralus138/hosts-compress-windows/issues/3).
