Thank you very much Porthos for the detailed reply. Much appreciated by a rookie.
Curiously I became so frustrated that I turned it off, used the browser without it and turned off my computer for the night - this morning when I rebooted my computer it now seems to be working fine. Guess something had to be "reset" somewhere and the reboot did it. I will bookmark your reply just in case!!
