I installed the latest version from the post above, and that seemed to have solved the problem. I am keeping exploit protection enabled. I want to keep my PC as locked down as possible. Tried again this morning and CurseForge loaded quickly and did the updates. I having been able to reboot since installing the latest version of Malwarebytes, so I will try again after a reboot. I wonder why I even had to re-install the software and why it didn't auto-update the base engine.

I forgot to add, when Curseforge is opened, this is what apps show up as opened in the task manager.

I have these options enabled. Even as a protected app. Still the problem persists. Hey Malwarebytes team, a lot of people are very frustrated by this. Curseforge is a widely used app among the gaming community. We need some guidance on this, not only so we do not have to add it to the protected apps and it can get scanned, but how to fix this issue.

I have Malwarebytes Premium, with "Exploit Protection" enabled. And it bogs Curseforge down to a crawl. I have to quit Malwarebytes, do my open Curseforge and do my updates, then restart Malwarebytes. I'm on the latest update as well. USA Version 4.6.7.301
