  1. I was having a problem running a full scan with Malwarebytes, link, It turned out it was Zonealarm causing the problem, switched to Comodo and all was well.
  2. When it happened to me the cause was Zonealarm and swapping to Comodo cured the problem.
  3. have a read through these posts and see if can get any info which may help. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...c=5483&st=0 Also it's worth updating M'bytes every time you use it as they release a lot of updates and hopefully one of them will fix it.
  4. My freezing problems using M'bytes and Kaspersky online scanner were solved by removing Zonealarm and replacing it with Comodo. If your friend is using Zonealarm, that's definitely worth a try.
  5. It's a well known one and unlikely to be a false positive so if M'bytes can get rid of it then let it. There's a fair bit on google about it.
  6. I still think Zonealarm may well be the culprit as for me it froze both M'Bytes and Kaspersky scans. Now that it's gone they both work fine, so a change of firewall might be a good idea, I went with Comodo (unticked all the extra things like toolbars etc.) and it's working fine. Have a look at the link in my previous post 'digitalspy' explains all and a few more links. Also this may be of use.......... http://forums.comodo.com/help_for_v3/for_p...o-t25461.0.html
  7. PROBLEM SOLVED ........ for me anyway. Only found out by accident really with the help of someone on a forum that I visit regularly ......... http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=864908 . I was scanning with Kaspersky online scanner when it froze at the same point. The conflict is with Zonealarm, using Comodo now, full scan completes and comes back clean ......... faith somewhat restored in Malwarebytes
  8. I cannot do a full scan with Malwarebytes as it freezes, but a quick scan returns no infections. I downloaded MP3 Reducer from Download . com and when I right click the download it is saying it's infected with a Keylogger called Spyware.Banker. I have been in touch with Download . com and they have re-tested MP3 reducer and assure me it is ok. '' Hi, We would like to give you an update on the file download you reported. Our Product Management Team re-tested the file with the latest malware and virus definition updates but did not find any problems. We were not able to duplicate the trouble you reported or find issues with the current file version. Our test results show that this product complies with CNET's Adware and Spyware Policy. Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.'' Here is the download; http://www.download.com/MP3Reducer/3000-21...cdlPid=10800298 and the scan; http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u231/li...ger/Reducer.jpg
  9. Thought I'd try anyway and did the same, no change quick scan = OK no problems full scan = Freeze.
  10. That's what I was thinking of doing but I don't see the point as I am also Xp pro SP3.
  11. Oh i've left it on for half an hour stuck on the same file and yes its freezing the cursor becomes a waiting cursor.
  12. No Norton on my machine, tried 2005 version of it, worst piece of software I've used apart from maybe Windows ME and so never again. The recycle bin is no longer a problem, it's going past that and freezing a bit later on .......... http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u231/li...iger/Volinf.jpg If it's fine for others then I can only assume there is some problem with my pc. For the time being I have uninstalled Malwarebytes. The file that came up as infected by Malwarebytes was given a scan by Superantispyware and Avira but neither found anything.
  13. Thanks for your reply, I tried what you suggested but it still froze at the same place as in my last post past where the recycle bin froze it, but as you can see http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u231/li...iger/Volinf.jpg , no infection has been found. I was able to track it down using a web cam to video the point where it froze. It was a program to reduce the size of mp3 files and thought it was safe as I got it from download . com , who I thought were 'safe'. To RubbeR DuckY ......... I have downloaded version 1.23 with the same results I'm afraid !! , must be my pc Here's what it found by the way ......... Files Infected: c:\program files\mp3reducer\mp3_reducer_single.exe (Spyware.Banker) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
  14. Yes I'll let you know, thanks. A new development .......... It always used to freeze at the same place (recycler) which I assume is the recycle bin, it has the same icon anyway. On the desktop I right clicked the recycle bin clicked properties and moved the slider for maximum size of recycle bin to Zero. I then gave it another full scan and it scanned past the point where it had the problem with 'recycler' and scanned another 150 objects before it decided to freeze on this. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u231/li...er/NewPlace.jpg
