  1. Sounds like a fun challenge, and I could use some cash I wonder how hard it is to learn how to do this stuff
  2. Google is protected by one of the laws that allows them to stay as long as they take down links I think to to content reports to be against the law as far as I am aware.
  3. After reading about Limewire it seems it would have been a nice way to share files if it was not used to share files that are against the law.
  4. They cleaned up some of there act as far as I know, I thought xosoft was discontinued and they replaced it with a new product based of Kaspersky.
  5. Moonsecure = Based on ClamAV engine. I don't think it is being actively created anymore as far as I am aware Acronis AV = Bitdefender I think
  6. @Buttons: I am very curious about one part about the Anti-Malware project. Is it going to work next to your current AV? Or will it be your current AV?
  7. Did they get rid of the fish background for the final version of Windows 7?
  8. Clam seems to be stepping up its detection rate thanks to all the samples it gets from Immunet due to the partnership they now have. I have seen Clam being on of the first 5 av's to detect a new fake av. Comodo is hit or miss, sometimes it's on of the top 10 to add a threat yet other times its on of the last to add them.
  9. Yeah I forgot to warn you, if you turn up the heuristics it kinda gives many FP's. If I remember correctly the heru engine is off for VT results so I have no idea how good it is for detecting new malware.
  10. Yeah if you submit it to their labs they should quickly add it. I think every sample I ever sent to them was added in the next update.
  11. Its an OK security program, it's real power is in its URL guard to prevent malware. I submit many samples to them (I have a log of samples I submitted to them) and all of the were responded to and quickly added. Its a full suite and contains a firewall. The Firewall had some bugs last time I heard things about it but the next release quickly patched all the bugs as far as I am aware. Pretty good if you surf on the safe side.
  12. It can't really be called a fake av because it does not really tick any boxes of being one. Yes you have to pay to scan but that does not make it malicious. Wrong biz move most likely but they got a real staff team working with a real engine (VirusBuster).
  13. System Restore and a USB Thumb Drive with my important files
  14. -First post moved- Opps yeah they must have started charging for real time. However I think the prevention AV is free but I may be wrong. Prevention owned the code for it first which I licensed from Virusbuster. Digital Defender then licensed the code from Prevention so it seems to be they started charging but you can get Prevention Av free still (I think unless they are charging now to.)
  15. No job right now but I want to work at a security company
  16. I thought No-IP was blocked by a few of the security black lists? I have always heard X10hosting is good.
  17. Yeah I have seen log files where MBAM detects it as Trojan.Zbot so that sounds correct ZA uses the Kaspersky engine so that alert is using the Kaspersky naming style. These pop has discussion all over the net of those wondering does their AV detect it due to the popularity of the free ZA. The will however really lower the trust of ZA for a lot of people.
  18. Yeah Visual Basic (last version was 6.0 if I remember correctly) was the original Visual Basic however it was replaced to fit into the .NET frame work. As of now Microsoft VB.NET actually is kinda like C++ because Microsoft has a few C++ to VB.NET code bits that allow inter-connection between the two. Ad-Aware uses the .NET framwork (C++/VB.NET) along with Panda and Avira as far as I am aware. Assembly is machine code which means it works lighter due to the fact the machine can understand it instantly without the need to *translate* the code into machine code (Sorry I am no coder yet I may download the VB.NET sdk tomorrow )
  19. I doubt Malwarebytes was written in Visual Basic it would most likely be written in VB.Net which is much newer. As a mater of fact a few security programs have pieces written in VB.net Also most security programs are not written in full assembly as far as I am aware the only product close to be written in full assembly is Nod32 Slow updates is because MBAM downloads the whole database in each update. Also there is nothing wrong with using Visual Basic .NET to code a security application in.
  20. I knew that we had a forum to submit malware, I just normally create a group of AV vendors and send links to every vendor at one time so I was wanting to add a MBAM email to the list
  21. Is it possible for the MBAM team to create an email to submit Malware URL's and Files so they can be added to MBAM?
